Twist of Fate, chapter 1
He runs to her music rising and heart beating fast. Everyone holds their breath as he confesses his love, understanding the error of his ways and realizing she is the only one for him. They embrace for that climatic kiss that makes everyone gasp and sigh with aww. Then they live happily ever after.
Isn't that how it always is? Fate is a funny thing, but I believe it only gets us so far. There is someone on this earth for everyone, but there is no guarantee you will ever find that person and that can be scary. But wonder if you do find him or her and things go wrong? Wonder if you knew all along they were the one, but it was never possible for things to work out? Fate can take us places we would never go, but once we are there we have to make things happened.
Alexis had finally gotten away. She was sitting on a plane on her way to San Diego, California, her dream home. Alexis came from a shit-hole town in South Dakota where nothing ever happened and everyone was the same. Ever since Alexis was 10 she told everyone who would listen, that she was getting out of here and going to live in California with all the stars. She was now 25 and finally her dream had come true. She loved telling her old friends goodbye as she departed.
"I can't believe you're really going," her friend Sara had said.
"I know," she replied. "I did it."
She adjusted herself and laid back on the seat. She was going to live with her best friend since high school, Tabitha. Tabitha was the kind of girl Alexis was totally opposite from. Tabitha was high class and rich. She was gorgeous too. Alexis always said Tabitha could have any guy she wants, but somehow she always ended up with guys that hurt her. Alexis was shorter than Tabitha with blonde hair, and blue eyes. People say she had gorgeous features. Alexis wondered if she was so pretty, why did she ever only have one boyfriend in her life? But now she was going to California, and things were going to change.
Alexis had to work and work just to get to California, and once she got there she was going to start working again for a small record label called BCD. Music had been a part of Alexis's life for as long as she could remember. Her dad was in a band, and when Alexis was young she would stay up for hours listening to them practice in their garage.
Alexis was too excited to sit still any longer. She decided to get up and go to the bathroom. She slid out of her window seat over a large man who was snoring very loudly and went to the back of the plane. Alexis loved flying and anything to do with loads of people. People were so unique and interesting, so whenever Alexis was in a large group she would observe everyone. Tabitha and she even had a game where they tried to predict what people's lives were like just by their appearances.
Alexis continued down the aisle and towards the bathrooms. In the last row of seats she noticed a man with a weird mustache. It curled up on the sides making him look like a detective or one of those bad guys on cartoons. Alexis laughed to herself. He sure looked funny. She turned to go the bathroom but ran into a guy.
"I'm sorry," she mumbled. "I wasn't looking where I was going."
"It's okay," he said going on the other side of her. Alexis looked up and saw beautiful blue eyes. He was built, tall, with brown spiked up hair. Wow she thought. "What were you laughing at?" he asked.
"What," Alexis said confused. Then she remembered the guy. "Oh I was just looking at the guy and how his mustache makes him look like a cartoon." She told him still laughing on the inside.
"Hey you're right," he said laughing too. "Well I better get back to my seat I guess we will be landing soon." Then he left.
Alexis returned to her seat without going to the bathroom. She didn't have to go that bad anyway. She was just excited to see her friend. That guy sure was cute, she thought, but what are the chances we will meet again anyway. She didn't give it a second thought as the plane landed.
