Twist of Fate, chapter 5
Alexis sat at her desk in the morning clicking the mouse in daze. "Alexis," her boss said coming over to her desk.
"Yes, Mr. Brockhoft," she replied. Mr. Brockhoft wasn't a bad boss. He was really friendly this morning when Alexis came in. Alexis had the hardest time getting up at 7:00. Everything from last night kept replaying in her head. She just wanted to see Tre again. This was the dreaded mornings after waiting for the guy to call and he never does.
"Alexis, I want you to copy these files," Mr. Brockhoft said handing her a stack of papers.
"Sure." Alexis grabbed the papers and headed to the copy room. She laid the first sheets on the copying board and pushed the button. While she was waiting she looked around. There were some posters up on the walls. They were mostly bands from the label. She turned around and saw a poster of Green Day. She looked at Billie in the front. He had such presence in that picture. It was entangling. Mike was to Billie's left and he too was pulling her in. Then there was Tre with that goofy look on his face. Alexis laughed to herself. It was like he was there. Alexis remembered she was supposed to be copying, so she turned back around and made a point not to look at it again.
Alexis trudged home after she got off work at 4. She just wanted to get home and see if Tre had called yet. She walked in the door and saw Tabitha in the living room watching T.V.
"Hey," Alexis called coming in the door. "Did anyone call for me?"
"You mean did Tre call for you," Tabitha said abandoning the T.V. and coming over to Alexis.
"Oh Tab," Alexis said.
"Looks like you guys had a good time last night," she continued.
"Why do you say that?"
"Well have a look at this," Tabitha said throwing a paper at Alexis. Alexis caught the paper and peered at the front page. It was a picture of Tre and her leaving the album release party. At the bottom of the picture a caption read: Tre finds new love with a blue eyed, blonde haired beauty.
"Oh my God, where did you get this?" Alexis asked flipping through the paper.
"Oh c'mon Lex, he's a huge star. It's all over by now." Even though this freaked Alexis out a little bit she couldn't but help smile at the caption. "You're in California for one day and you're already making headlines," Tabitha yelled from the other room.
