I had the pleasure of going to a Green Day concert a few months ago. I'll start from the beginning. We arrived a little late, because of traffic, and Sugarcult, the opening band, was already playing. Since this was the first good concert I had ever been to (I'm 12) I was enthralled with the entire stadium. Hundreds of seats surrounding the stage, and Sugarcult looked awesome, playing. I glanced downwards and saw the mosh pits, and was again amazed. My family and I quickly found our seats and watched Sugarcult perform. They were excellent. It was hilarious, because the lead singer was wearing a flourescent pink leaotard for Halloween. My dad went to buy some Green Day stuff for us right after Memory, and my sister and I convinced him to buy us a Green Day bag, a Green Day sweatshirt that I use pretty much daily now, and a New Found Glory shirt. When we came back to the stadium, Sugarcult played a few more ending songs, said their thanks to Green Day and New Found Glory for allowing them to come along, and left the stage.
For a brief period of time there were screens all around the stadium that encouraged people to text messages and pictures to a certain number from their cell phones. If they did, then they would appear on the screens later. My sister's came up, saying "Yes, Billie Joe, I will marry you." in a mocking tone (we knew he was married, of course we weren't serious). After about 10-20 minutes, New Found Glory ran on stage, sporting orange suits. "Hey everyone," Jordan Pundik, singer of New Found Glory began, with a quick opening speech. They began to play their set, and I spotted a few headbangers in front of us and just a few people who stood up. I was slightly annoyed by these people, because I wasn't a HUGE fan of NFG, so I didn't stand up, and they were kind of blocking my view. So yeah, New Found Glory was awesome, and they finished, thanking Green Day and Sugarcult. After that, another intermission started, again with the screens lighting up. Messages saying "I love you Brian" or something like that flashed up for about 10 minutes, and soon Green Day ran out on stage, and the crowd rose in applause and roars. Everyone stood up, including me (because Green Day is so awesome). Green Day played a whole variety of songs. They started with American Idiot, and continued with Jesus Of Surburbia, Holiday, Are We The Waiting, St. Jimmy, Longview, Basket Case, Boulevard of Broken Dreams, Time of Your Life, Hitchin' a Ride, King for a Day, and a few others, I think. Green Day were hilarious, saying random jokes in between songs. Overall, it was an AWESOME experience I don't think I'll ever forget. Green Day, New Found Glory, and Sugarcult are great live.
