London - Hammersmith Apollo, February 5th, 2005
Last night I quite possibly had the best time of my life. I went to see Green Day live. Seeing as it was Green Day, I did think that they would be good but I was wrong, they were amazing!!!!
The journey was long and cold and through my constant moaning to my mate James, I kept thinking that I would see Billie Joe and that suddenly made it all worth while and how right I was.
After 2 hours on trains and another 2 hours waiting in the qeue, we finally made it to Hammersmith. Although we missed New Found Glory while waiting, which sucked, Green Day made up for it in more ways than one. The opening was, naturally, American Idiot which got the crowd going and whilst being pushed and hit (all in the name of Green Day) it still rocked, the next few songs were taken from the album American Idiot closely followed by She, When I come around, Basket Case and Hitchin' A Ride. Added in were a few classic covers such as Shout and We Are The Champions and there you ultimatly had the best gig id ever been to!
Whilst Billie Joe keep the crowd going with call and response and enjoying soaking everyone with a giant watergun whilst wearing devil horns, which made him look incredibly sexy Tre and Mike rocked behind him, they did the usual getting some kids up on stage to play with them then letting them keep the instruments. Lucky gits!
Finally ending with Wake Me Up When September Ends and an impresive flame display which, I swear, singed my eyebrows, it was that hot, hehe! And that wasn't the end. We were then treated to a spectacular encore with them playing Bolevard Of Broken Dreams and Time Of Your Life, which it was indeed! All topped off with a confetti display at the end which about 2,000 people tried to collect as a momento of the fantastic gig.
So, to sum it all up, Green day rocked!!!
