Fiddy Cent had finally got the message and went off stage, leaving an audible silence and a huge sense of anticipation built among the 80000 or more who had gathered to witness what could only be second best to the birth of their child.

The PA blurted out a very famous 'rock opera', Queen's bohemien rhapsody. The whole crwod was shoted MAMAAAAAAA, at the top of their lungs. That would only be a warm up for tehir vocal chords, as the now famous pink bunny arrived on stage to huge cheers and a massive surge forwards. Then on stage, came Mr Frank Edwin Wright the Third dressed as Father Tre Cool. he dived from the amp onto his drum seat, and started beating the drums. Mike gurned his way to his usual stage right position. Billie followed and started hitting the first chords of what exploded into American Idiot.

The drums morphed into the familiar pounding beats that introduce Longview. From then on the set was much like a disjointed live international superhits. With festival favourites, King for a day and Shout getting the crowd in a huge bubbleing frenzy of jiggyness-majig. They hurried off the stage after Maria, only to be forced back on as per usual by hordes of moist hooded armies of fans. They finished up with We are the champions, and billie showed how wide his vocal range actually is. Thousands of fat drunk men stumbled around like fat drunk men to that.

I was suprised they didn't do Jesus of Surburbia, and i would hacve loved them to have done a quick Network cover. But they did have stringent Public Performance laws to follow, meaning the show couldn;t go on past 11. Hopefully they will be a bit more generous with the new stuff in the club shows. No Trashed set at the end nor time of your life. But still fans stuck around for hours, before disbanding leaving a field of coporate sponsership and lots of shoes.

Everyone i have spoken to said Green Day were the highlight of the weekend. And Green Day proved the were much better than the Offspring that weekend. Green Day own the stage, where Offspring merely rent it.

I was at the front, and at one point i remmeber looking up at billie joe, who was looking in my diretion, and then soemone stole my hat, and he saw it and laughed. I was suprised that they didn't have more pyrotehcnics, backdrop changes and confetti. Either way they showed that the music can hold itself. I know people who have cired because of the show. Green DAy shows do that, after my first show, i just sat up all night thinking. Can anyone say that for the Darkness.
