Austraila, Melbourne Rod Laver Arena, March 9th, 2005
Doors Open to the 20 minute sell out show and the people stream in.. Well, sort of. The Arena was about 3/4 filled and the mosh pit only about 1/2 full. Weird! Anyway, Simple Plan came on and bless their little souls played a pretty good show. Sure they play catchy pop/rock but at least they admitt it and have fun with it. The coolest thing about their set was the huge Mexican wave 40 minutes and it was over. Intermission happened and when I got back to my seat the whole arena was filled with an atmosphere of anticipation I've never felt before in my life. The YMCA got everyone dancing with the drunk bunny, before the boys came out with American Idiot explosions dropping curtains, Billie Joes Banter, Neon Lights, Hitchin' a ride, She, When I come around ect, stuff of the new album, a shout cover, giving away free kisses to mosh pit guitair players, Billie Joe's ass crack, more explosions, fire, the entire stadium of screaming jumping fans singing at the top of their lungs all the way through as well as mobile's and lighters lifted high above out heads for the final song the very appropriate Good Riddance (Time Of Your Life) before confetti showered over the pit. An amazing show doesn't quite describe this band's brilliant performance. I cannot wait untill they come back and I'm betting everyone in that stadium can't either.
