Austraila, Melbourne Rod Laver Arena, March 9th, 2005
I was really pissed off! I missed Green Day when they came out to Melbourne in 2000 so I wasn't going to miss them this time.
Opening up for Green Day was Simple Plan. They were really crap. The lead singer has the most annoying voice and is a tool. He said to the crowd "Let's see some metal" hahaha! What would Simple Plan know about metal?
Anyway onto the good stuff. After Simple Plan finished there was about a 20 minute wait and then Green Day hit the stage!!!!. Billie started with a quick "Hello Melbourne" and then they launched straight into American Idiot. The first bit of the show was songs from American Idiot like Jesus Of Surbia, Holiday, Are We The Waiting and St. Jimmy.
The next bit of the show was all old songs starting with their first ever hit Longview.
One of my favourite parts of the show was when they played my 2 favourite Green Day songs Brainstew and Jaded.
During this show Tre threw soo many drum sticks most of which ended up on the stage. He must of went through 50 drumsticks.
My second favourite part of the show was during Knowledge Billie pulled a guy out of the audience to play drums on the song as well as a girl to play bass and a guy to play guitar. Surely a dream come true for these lucky fans. The guy playing guitar got to keep the guitar!!!!! The girl playing bass got to stage dive.
Billie dedicted Wake Me Up When September Comes to Johnny Ramone. They then played Minority which sent the most pit into a frenzy. They then left the stage.
They returned playing their huge hit Boulevard Of Broke Dreams. They then played When I Come Around, We Are The Champions and Billie finished the show off as he always does by playing Time Of Your Life.
Overall a gret show worth the 5 Year Wait.
