Pittsburg, PA - Mellon Arena, April 22nd, 2005
This was my first Green Day concert and it was sooo AWESOME!
When I got there, My Chemical Romance was playing, and after every song the lead singer guy would say thank you to Green Day or say something random (like once he said "Hey ladies, you know some bands like Motley Crue want you to lift up your shirt and show them your tits, when they do that, we want you to spit in their fucking faces!!" and that was kinda awkward cause my dad was there...) They played from 8 til 8:30, and then they started setting up for Green Day.
During that, this guy in a pink bunny suit comes out and starts chugging a Budweiser, which was kind of funny. (I don't know who it was, but I read in another review that it was Billie Joe, so that was probably who it was.)
Then Green Day came out and everyone was spazzing out while they played American Idiot. Then they did Jesus of Suburbia, Holiday, and Are We the Waiting, and they dedicated St. Jimmy to My Chemical Romance. I think they played Long View next and I'm not sure in what order, but they also performed Brain Stew, Basket Case, She, and then Hitchin' a Ride. And during Hitchin' a Ride, Billie Joe was doing the orgasm thing (and that was awkward too because of my dad.) And he did the 'Ay-ohh' thing too. Then they played a couple of other songs - a cover of Shout which was kinda cool, King For a Day which was awesome cause they had their outfits and Billie Joe had his crown and he was about to moon the audience.
Then they did the fan band thing and the guitarist got to keep the guitar and the drummer got to keep the drumsticks and take a stage dive, but the bassist was annoying cause he wouldn't play like Mike told him to, so Billie Joe's like 'Get your sorry ass off my stage!' and he got nothing while the crowd basically laughed at him.
Then I think they played Wake Me Up When September Ends and Billie Joe dedicated it to Johnny Ramone. Everyone had their cell phones and lighters out and everything. I think Boulevard of Broken Dreams was next and of course everyone sang along.
Last was their encore thing, where they did Good Riddance and Minority, which got the crowd pumped again, and during that, there was confetti coming down (it was cool cause it had little heart-shaped hand grenades on it - I saved some - lol) Their last song was a cover of We Are The Champions which was kind of a good song to end on.
My legs hurt for days, my ears were ringing, I had a headache, and I was sweating, but it was the best time of my life. (I still haven't taken off the little wristband they give you when you have floor seats.) It was so awesome though, because I was so close to Billie Joe, and as you can tell, he's my favorite because he's so hot and he writes all of the songs and he sings them too (no offense to all the Tre and Mike fans). I can't wait to go to my next one!!!
