Milton Keynes National Bowl - England, June 18th, 2005
4AM My house...
Me, Steph, Becka and Kerry woke up ready to set off for what was to be the best (yet most tireing) day of the year! We got dressed and set off for the 2 hour drive to Milton Keynes. We got there for about 6.30 and grabbed some form of breakfast (hula hoops and sweetie strawberrys in my case). We got in the que at gate 2 and allready it was boiling hot! The people that were there as early as us seemed nice. We got talking and kept each other amused until we went in.
We were told that the 1st few thousand that were able to "leg it" into the "golden circle" could be nearer the front. So of course despite the security telling us to slow down and the heat we ran!! We were near the front 2nd row to be exact, we had to stay where we were. Well i refused to move, there was water fights, fights and cup collecting to keep people amused.
Finally at around 5 oclock we were given some music. Hard-fi played a few of thier songs, i had never heard thier music before, in fact i had never heard of them! But they were pretty good! The lead singer was pretty hot too which helped!
Next was Taking Back Sunday. I never really took notice of this band before, but they were fucking excellent! I really enjoyed thier act. By now it was just me and Becka left standing, Kerry gave up 1st, deciding she would rather be at the back, then Steph got tired from the heat.
Me and Becka were determined to keep going, we had waited so long we were not giving up!
Next up was Jimmy Eat World. I have heard some of thier stuff before and it was ok. So i was thinking they would be good. Unfortunatley they bored me nearly to death. Here i was stood in a mosh pit ready to be totally rocked by Green Day and i was bored. The only time me and Becka got excited was when we saw Billie Joe walk past back stage and also Mr Tre' Cool.. then we got excited. Also it was pretty good when the lead singer of Taking Back Sunday came on stage. We were not impressed though! The time we cheered the loudest was when we were informed that they had finished and that Green Day would be next....
And indeed they were!!
We forgot how hot we were, that we did actually need the toilet, that we hadnt been able to move for 8 hours, that we were squashed and getting increasingly crushed, that we were tired and in pain. Because Green Day Came on to the stage.
Suddenly we were closer to a bunch of people that we didnt know than was comfortable and we were feet away from the Gods that are Green Day I was thrilled that Billie Joe acknowledged me 3 TIMES!! Yes indeed and i still am!
THere was an incident with a bitch of a woman that bruised my ribs and made me cry by being totally evil to me purpousley! But it was worth it, i just moved up a bit and ended up ok.
When i felt safe enough to get out my phone i took some great up close pictures!
I was tired and emotional and cried nearly as much as Billie Joe did. (bless him)
King for a day was great.. Hitchin a ride, one of my favourites was amazing, the joke with the hands in his trousers always makes me laugh! My favourite American Idiot song ST Jimmy was performed with such enerygy and although i didnt have room to do the actions me and Steph made up i still totally "went for it" Tre Cool had a little accident slipping over in the wet and getting a wet ass, i laughed so much! Mr Mike was also great, i haven't mentioned him much but he totally rules too.
Billie Joe gave away an amazing pink and black guitar that i would have died for, and i can play guitar too!! oh well, one day. Im not too bitter towards the cute lad that got it though!
Green Day handed over thier Band to England! Wow! Punk has come home!
The night ended as usual with Good Riddance. My all time favourite song! It was played surprisingly in electric guitar, not accoustic. It was different but amazing!
I love Green Day and yes i am a little (or alot) obsessed, but i will always be a true fan. Green Day truly deserve every fan they have!
