Gothenburg, Sweden, July 2nd, 2005
The concert was rather ace, but what more to expect from a band that has been around for as long as Green Day?
I've been to a few concerts, never a Green Day concert before tho, but I've never seen an arena as fully seated as Scandinavium was. I was fortuneated to have standingrickets and did get quite a good view from were I was stood.
Billie Joe has an incredible ability to get a crowd all feaked out.
As he said" I want every single one in this room to freak out, but first of all I want you to scream"
Well, Sweden was more than willing to obey to everything Billie Joe said or told us to do.
The start with American Idiot made the whole arena to jump, no one were witting down. As they played song after song, the crowd went wilder and wilder.
A memorable part was of course when Billie Joe showed us his ass. Which somehow some of the arena missed. Not me tho, i was right infront.
The support act Jimmy Eat World kicked ass, an awsome live band!
The three lads that got the upportunity to play with Green Day was more than shocked afterwards. The lad that got to keep Billie Joe's guitar hugged him.
But unfortunate he was from Stockholm. (Gothenburg - Stockholm, hate each other) So when Bille Joe asked him from where he was and he said "Stockholm" he didn't get exactly popular... So Billie Joe asked him "So where are you from now?" that was sure something to remeber.
When they ended the concert with "Time of Your life" I think most of us from the crowd realised that it was exactly what we just had had. I sure had the time of my life.
And by Green Day playing in Sweden, it sure will leave marks in our countrys punk-rock. (that it was Gothenburg makes me even more proud)
