Milton Keynes National Bowl - England, June 18th, 2005

I went to the Milton Keynes National Bowl to see Green dDay on the 19th of June. It was the best day of my life. I got there 2 hours early so that I could get as close as I could. Well because I was within the first 1,000 people I got to go into the very front section! I thought hey, this is great, but then sitting in that heat for about 6 hours until Green Day come on wasnt exactly the way I thought it would happen.
First band on were Hard-Fi, I hadn't actually ever heard of them but there were ok, I think they were a bit overwhelmed playing to over 60,000 people. Then there was Taking Back Sunday, they pissed me off a bit. They didn't really play that much, all they did was talk. Jimmy Eat World were the opposite, they played a lot and talked very little which is the way that I like it. Then there was Green Day they came in via helicopter whilst Jimmy Eat World were playing and everyone looked at the helicopter and started to scream! Then Green Day came on and opened with American Idiot, it was amazing! They then played their usual songs like She, Minority, Hitchin a Ride, Jesus of Suburbia... Billie Joe invited a small boy up onto the stage to squirt us with water pistols, it was really funny. Then during Knowledge they picked 3 people to come up onstage and play the song for them, the guitarist was amazing. He was only 14 and the lucky shit got to keep the guitar. Then there was the bassist who got thrown onto the stage and ran up to Mike and hugged him. The drummer seemed pretty quiet. Some of Billie Joe's antics on stage made me laugh, like humping the stage and masturbating. During king for a day gave his crown and tie to someone in the crowd. Green Day later came out for an encore. They played Homecomming, Boulevard of Broken Dreams, and Good Riddance. I ended up in tears, I knew that the concert was coming to an end. The huge confetti cannons sent out tons of confetti into the audience and the band left. This was the greatest day of my life, anyone who ever has the chance to see them live should go rightt away, you will not regret it.
