Milton Keynes National Bowl - England, June 18th, 2005
We arrived at the Bowl at about 1 o'clock and joined the Q waiting for the gates to open. It was so hot, it was unbelievable.
I was so hyped up. When we got in, we wondered around the stalls for a bit then found a place a bit further back but directly in the centre of the stage.
We spent all day sunbathing, playing cards, having a laugh and singing as loud as we could. As the support acts played it was like listening to the radio, the atmosphere was good but it was still daylight so people were still dossing about.
When Jimmy Eat World were on a huge helicopter circled the Bowl, everyone went crazy as it landed directly behind the stage, it was just possible to see it through the barriers to the side of the stage, this was it, the bowl went mad, all 65,000 people.
When Green Day came on the place went crazy. Me and my mates grabbed at each other screaming (even the lads that were with us), it was amazing. I have never felt such a buzz at any other concert.
I loved it all, I have no favourite parts though it seemed as though when 'Shout' was played, the Bowl was louder than it had been all night. Everyone was jumping around singing (and of course playing air guitar) and basically having an amazing time.
As this was played we all jumped around and my mate pulled me forward with him and we went crashing into the people in front of us leaving us in fits of giggles.
When Billie Joe played 'Time of Your Life' at the end it was amazing, everyone seemed to pull out lighters and began hugging each other and singing along. 65,000 people singing the same song, thats some buzz.
I was loving it but didn't want it to end. I was grinning from ear to ear, and giggling a lot (possibly partly to do with the drink I'd had), as I was talking to my mate, Adam, we couldn't speak in more than a wisper to each other, I'm not sure how Billie Joe copes!!
It was the best night of my life and I can't wait to see them again. I had waited long enough before but now I know what I am missing, I want more live Billie Joe, it's like an addiction!
One of the most amusing bits of the night was when I was screaming that I wanted to F**K Billie Joe, as he did his usual stuff, and my mate Adam (perfectly straight guy) was yelling 'Me, too CAT ME TOO, I WANNA F**K HIM TOO'. Billie Joe could obviously have anyone he wanted.
It was a fantastic night that could not be replaced and I'm gald that it is the Milton Keynes gigs that they are putting on DVD.
