Long Beach, CA - Long Beach Arena, November 22nd, 2004
There is no possible way to express how beautiful and truly wonderful their concert was. It has been two days since i have seen it and i still think about it every second of every day!!! I have given up on life so I can follow Green Day around and watch their show over and over again (or at least i plan to lets not tell my mother about this plan though).
Anyway, it started off beautifully with American Idiot and continued through Jesus of Suburbia and the rest of American Idiot until St. Jimmy and also minus Blvd. of Broken Dreams and then they started going into their old stuff. It was sort of sad when fans sat down after St. Jimmy was played but I did not sit down once. I sang every word including when they played Knowledge (Operation Ivy). They lost some people during King for a Day and Hitchin' a Ride but most of the fans stayed true.
The man (Billie Joe Armstrong) was king and when he told people to go the wave every single person in the stadium did the wave, when he screamed for everyone to stop no one moved or said a word and when he said "Hey-O" the rest of us screamed it after him every single time for how ever long he told us. My friend described the scene as cult-like especially with all the flags but we did not care, we were part of that cult and proud of it!
The show was truly the time of my life as the song says and I swear if Green day ever comes near my area I will see them in concert again. The show is definately one worth seeing and Green Day will keep you interested and wanting more even till after the very end. Some highlights were definately the sounds the Billie Joe made as he proceeded to have an orgasm in the middle of the stage as he "tucked his shirt in", the cape and the crown he wore, when Billie Joe said about Holiday " this song isn't anti-american, its anti-war" the entire stadium jumped up for that comment.
The entire show was a exceptional there are no words to describe the intensity which they played from beginning to end. Billie Joe can really sing, the man has such a great set of lungs and tre and mike were just brilliant.
Sugarcult and New Found Glory were okay but the fans were there for Green Day and we got the best show of our lives, the band basically held the audience from start to finish and yes Billie Joe we totally agree with you " it's your fucking house in there now".
