Blogs and Poetry Guidelines

I've noticed that lately alot of people will post multiple blogs in a row with only poems, no information on the poems, no review, nothing. That really isn't what blogs were intended for. GSB has a wonderful poetry section on the message board. In that section you can not only post your own poems, but read and enjoy the work of other poets. Poems can be posted in blah blahs as well. You can also visit Mibba and post and writing you do on there.

There are certain times in which it would be ok to post a poem in a blog. If you wrote a poem about an event that had a signifigant impact on your life, you're welcome to explain that in a blog. You can also add a review of your poem if you like, and discuss your strong and weak writing points. Just posting the poem all by itself however isn't good enough, and adding in a little two line explanation won't cut it either. If you choose to post poems in here, thought and effort needs to be put into the information you provide to accompany your poem.

For example..
He's quiet,
the silence is something new.
So quiet that
it's deafening.

Then I hear that scratching,
hes in that trance yet again..
his canvas is horridly blank,
as insecure as he is.

His mind was black,
black as calligraphers ink,
blacker than I could have
ever presumed, more so than
the skylines in vague shades.

This was his passion,
lust in it's purest form
faint outlines of a
masterpiece, stay trapped
with in his mind...

His intentions were cruel,
Oh yes, I did know

There was no light in our
unsanctified world, just the imaginary
Eden we manipulated as reality.
he was tired of believeing...

Through that brush his screams emerged,
saying things so obscene I can't repeat...
Every stroke revealed just,
a little bit more...

More than I ever hoped to see..

He reflected on the decline of morals,
depicted the lack of trust,
and predicted the end of time.
something few dare to do..

He's as morbid as the night is long...
in a world where the sun doesnt rise...

I wrote this poem about an artist I greatly admire, Marilyn Manson. Im not talking about his musical art, but his paintings. They have always captivated me and I've always found them to be really interesting. What I think draws me to them so much is how unique they are when compared to other modern art. Alot of his work is centered on the Black Dahlia murder, and that creates such a gloomy mood whenever you're looking at the artwork, it always makes me thing of cool, moist ink; which is actually one of the adjectives I used in this poem... blah blah blah

And you could continue on and go into more detail, review your poem, ect. If you were to review a poem you didn't write you'd need to give credit to the author and make sure that your blog doesn't promote any kind of hate against that author, or their work. If you have multiple poems, you don't need to make ten seperate blogs for them all in a row, they can share one.

Now, if you've posted poems in blogs before without that other information they will be deleted tomorrow night, so you have until then to add in the required information if you want to keep the blog. Typically when blogs are deleted the user is banned from the section, but don't worry. Since this rule wasn't really made clear no one will lose access to this section or anything as long as from now on these rules are followed and agreed to. Anyone who fails to follow the process for posting poems in blogs will have their blog deleted and lose access to the section, although I'm sure you will all follow the guidelines very well.
