I think that blog brought up a wrong impression of GSB.
This is just a rant about my opinion on this whole thing and you might bash it or agree to it. It bugs me so much that I just can''t shut my mouth.
I'm mostly referring to this blog..
So I think I finally figured out how it started. Someone decided to write a blog about rules for newbies (btw I really dislike the term n00b). And then a newbie intruduced herself and people shoved that blog in her face. It's just a natural consequence that she reacted with dislike and started to denounce it.
And if you ask me, this blog brings up a wrong impression of GSB. It makes us seem like a dictatorship.
First of all newbies are always welcome. And no, they do not need to sit and wait and observe before they write something. Intruduce yourself, try to make friends, talk to people. The best thing to start that is on the I'm New - Thread.
The only real rules you have to follow are the official GSB rules.
Furthermore, if you so desperatly need to find one, the only real GSB Popular or Main Person is Dujo.
There are people on this site who are more or less known. That's not a big deal.
Most people on GSB probably use the Message Board anyway. And you know what I noticed? There are well known users there, but none of them bashes this into anyone's face.
In the Blah Blahs, nevertheless, it seems to be different. And what really bugs me there is when some people there think they are the main person and everything revolves around them. I read a funny comment from someone saying: The blahs are MY area as it is dubbed and i will not have some noob pissing everyone off. The Blah Blah is no one's area and everyone is welcome to chat about whatever they like there.
In another point the blog I'm talking about says: Likewise, don’t expect any sympathy from us just because you are new. We are vicious and won’t hesistate to rip apart a new person if we feel shitty.. So what does this tell someone who is new? Better leave and never come back? And I don't think this speaks for all GSBians. To be honest, I think it only speaks for 1%.
If this hasn’t scared you n00bs away, welcome to the site! . Well it sure would have scared me away.
So all I have to say now is:
Welcome everyone who is new. Be youself, talk to people, get involved, make friends. Find your favourite place on here. You can discover the Blah Blahs (including the Tagboard), the Blogs, the Message Board, the Chatroom or the articles or all at the same time (;
But most of all: have fun. If someone tries to look down on you or get you down, ignore them. There are hundreds and thousands of nice and welcoming people here.
Some people on here really need to learn how to be nice :/// and that really bugs me.

Love the blog and the advice, I mean i like the newbies who go out into the big scary GSB world and makes blahs and try and get friends, it makes me think so much of them when they go for it.

To be honest, the only thing anyone needs to be warned about is the person/people who wrote that blog.
XD
Nice blog.
Vicious.., May 23rd, 2007 at 11:22:35am
If someone is ever rude to new users, and shoves crap like that in their face you should probably tell a mod. Unless the person being rude to them was extremely mean or something, they won't get banned or anything. But if you tell a mod, we can usually turn their opinion of GSB around so they see that everyone isn't mean. And the people who are rude probably aren't really mean people either, its just a mistake, and they'll regret it eventually.

I complete agree with you. That Blog was waaay out of line (though despite the content being absolute sh*te, I couldnt help but laugh a it- it was well written from a grammatical p.o.v) and not fair on the so called 'n00bs'.
Your Blog was right, in all aspects, but I think you missed out on the fact that since these 'popular' people have been making their presence felt, a lot of older GSBians have left the site completely or dont frequent it as much. That, I feel, has a little to do with the things you mentioned up there and of course, the Blog that pissed alot of people off.
There shouldnt be different rules for different people. Dujo made rules and we should stick to them.

Very, VERY well said.

i agree, really. tbh i think the whole idea of making up rules for n00bs is stupid; the official gsb rules are fine.
this is a message board/fan website, for god's sake, not a club. idk. i think we should be welcoming people who sign up to this website, not warning them.

Thankyou, Love. <3
You should write up the welcome to GSB blah if there was ever one needed.
