Weight Issues
Teenage girls and self image problems go hand-in-hand. It's just a given. Girls idolize Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie and want to look like that. Unfortunately, most don't. All we see from the media is 'loose weight' 'dump that stubborn belly fat' 'look just like Kate Moss', every other commercial is Nutri-System or some diet pill. These are the images that America's teenagers and tween girls are being bombarded with. They are led to believe that skinny is beautiful. Weighing above 103 pounds just won't do. With these thoughts comes anorexia and bulimia, among both girls and boys. Hollywood portrays beauty as basically being thin. If you don't wear a size 1, you're ugly. And that isn't the case. There are many, many beautiful woman who actually EAT. Beauty does not come from what Hollywood says looks good, or what Lindsay Lohan is wearing. No, beauty is how you present yourself. What you see when you look in the mirror. If you see an ugly, fat person, guess what? Other people are going to see that too. But if you see yourself as a beautiful young woman, thats what everyone is going to see. They are going to see you walking down the street with your chin held high, and they are going to like it. They are going to like you. Being called fat by one person doesn't make you fat. But calling yourself fat, that just makes you a sad person. Woman of all sizes are beautiful. Look at plus size models. To be perfectly honest I think they look better than those skinny little twigs. So you know what? Go to the mall and shop in the 'skinny stores'! So what if you don't grab the smallest size?! You grab what you like, you wear it like you are the best thing around, and you strut your stuff girl!
I admit I am a big person but Im not changing because some celeb wants us to , the media wants everyone to be the same and thats not going to happen.

I'm in between fat and skinny. I weigh 120 pounds and I'm about 5'2" tall, and people still say that I need to lose weight. I'm not overweight, I'm just not like a stick figure, and I'm happy with that.

I agree with you all, some people are just naturally skinny. And there is nothing wrong with that. I was talking about girls who strive to be a twig, who want to fit into size 0 jeans. And no one views models as just a model. They see them as what is 'hot'.

XD I've broken my nose before too Lyddy. ..It's a tad crooked, and has a bump in it. ..But meh.

your right, but some of us are naturally skinny. i am. but if i ate everytime i was hungry id put on loads of weight, coz i always feel hungry. not meal hungry, snack hungry. so im always wanting crisps and dont really ever want a whole meal.
but even if i did put on weight, it wouldnt look right coz my bones are a skinny sticks bones. so id look fat not curvy. id love to be a model, but youve got to be pretty as well... and before you go "oh, im sure your very pretty" im not in the models are pretty way. i broke my nose before. so its got this big ol bump in it. RAWR! difference is awesome

I'm tall and thin
I have pratcially no curves.
And I love being thin, but sometimes it's horrible.
Sometime I look in the mirror and say 'I could be thinner'
or
'You look anorexic, go eat some cake'
I get picked on for being thin, I've had bulmia rumors etc.
annd girl snicker 'I've heard she's ano!'
Thin isn't alwyas pretty or heathly.
Heathly is best.

My weight status is exactly like vonny's.
Obesity isn't the only form of weight problems there is. Many times when people speculate on things like this, they say, "omg those skinny b*tches need to eat." I do not find that funny at all. Just because I don't weight 500 pounds does not mean I don't eat or throw up my food.

I agree.
Damn media.. they sell the worst things and so many people are victimized by it.
threeam., June 7th, 2007 at 01:55:15am
True.
But you have to realise that some girls are naturally thin. I'm stick thin. I am straight up and down, yet, I can eat whatever I want and not put on weight. I just have a fast metabolism. ..It's all genetics.
And, you have to remember, that models are just that. Models. Think about this: a model car isn't meant to be the real thing. It's not meant to be the real size, is it? No. It's just meant to show what a car basically is. Yet, cars come in all different shapes and sizes. Just like people.
Unfortunately, what people don't understand is that models aren't meant to be representing the real size of people. So teenagers strive to be that thin.
And yes, the media isn't helping one bit.

Please! If it were up to the government we'd all be mindless republican zombies.
But yes, I agree with you.

What's sad is the current state of health issues regarding obesity. The government is really pushing for us Americans to be thin and 'healthy"
Pretty soon, insurance companies won't insure you if you're overweight. It's not just about trying to look like a size 0 model- it's about what the government what's to see you as.
