And so the obsession starts again...

Harry Potter. Doctor Who. The obsession is starting again, much to my delight.

The obsession with Harry Potter started when I was 10 years old. Harry Potter was all over the news. The books hadn't even been released in Australia yet! I remember standing in the shopping centre, my mother asking me if I wanted to read the Harry Potter book she was holding in her hand. I said yes, wanting to know why the news thought it was so good. (My opinion of that time was that nothing could be better than Paul Jennings books). So I read it. And that was the start. That was the start of the obsession that has been with me for nearly 8 years now.

I read the first book in a week. The next weekend I bought the second book. And the weekend after that I bought the third book. I remember how cut up I was that I had to wait two more weeks after that to get the fourth book. It was a further three years I had to wait until the fifth book came out, during which I managed to read the first four books eleven times each. I had made the transition to High School since then, but still that didn't curb the obsession. Then the sixth book came out. I read it in two days, scared that somebody would tell me what happens if I didn't read it before school started again.

Then the Harry Potter craze started to die down. No movies were being released and the last book wasn't finished yet. This was when I moved more onto Green Day, obsessing over them more, but never forgetting Harry Potter.

And now, a new movie is being released in only days, and a new book. The final book. I've waited 7 years for this moment. And, as the time draws nearer I feel the obsession rising again. I had pushed it away for a year, but now, it's coming back and I'm loving every minute of it. At the moment I'm reading Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince again, just to refresh my memory for when I read the last book. I'm so excited. And, just reading Harry Potter again fills me with so much happiness.

And now, to Doctor Who. I fell in love with Doctor Who in year 10 I think it was. When the new series came out. Not the one where David Tennant plays the Doctor. The series before that. My Dad watched it, so I did too. I absolutely loved it. I'm a total science fiction / super natural nerd. I can't get enough of it.

Series two (the one with David as the Doctor), finished last year, and I'll admit, I didn't think about Doctor Who as much. I still loved it, but, didn't really think about it. And now, Australian television loves me again. It's given me Series Three of Doctor Who as well as Torchwood - a Doctor Who spin off.

So now, the obsession starts again. Much to my delight.
