Have you ever noticed...?
Have you ever noticed that all the mods have all the power?
That they don’t get screamed at or abused for writing what they want or feel in blogs, and the people with the lesser “powers” do?
If a mod posted a blog saying about how much they hate something, or how much they like something, they’d get admired by the GSB public, in the fear of not getting banned.
Have you ever noticed that there’s so many rules and guidelines AND censorship in a fan site that supports a band that has a lot to do with rebellion against rules, and promotion in being your own person, but how are you supposed to be your own person if there’s that many rules I ask.
I haven’t been here very long, and that’s not a factor towards this, but it just seems like an oxymoron (something that cancels itself out), what’s with the censorship of the swearing?
Where I come from, it’s lower to middle class standards, and everywhere I walk, everywhere I go, I hear kids swearing at some factor, and think, if they don’t know the words now, they’ll just go to highschool, learn them anyway, and get in trouble for using them.
It’s fine that you ban them from pornography, but what are you trying to keep them away from on a Green Day site, of all places?
As much as I love them, whenever I come to this site, I just sit back and think ‘what the hell?!’
Why the demand for perfection on a place where teenagers were once able to escape the problems?
I’m going to be told that if I don’t like the site, then leave it, yeah, well, I will leave it.

If you had read my comment you'd know exactly why we can't have people swearing =]
Kurtni, August 7th, 2007 at 02:19:54am
I'm not asking anyone to hack or spam it,
I'm just saying why not swear?
Arabia FUCK YEAH., August 6th, 2007 at 08:55:56am

So..you want complete anarchy on websites? Or less rules so you can be your own person. Just because things are censored or there are rules doesnt mean you cant be yourself. Take acutal life for an example.
How bout...you make your own site, with no rules and un-censored. See how it goes.

Ah, no. If a mod posted a hate blog they would definitely be banned from the blogs and would risk their mod status. Anyone can post a blog about something they like. And everyone is allowed to express negative opinions in blogs as well as long as they do so in a respectful manner. No one ever gets abused i blogs O_O Please, show me where someone has been abused. Having people disagree with you isn't the same as being abused, everyone is allowed an opinion.
Right, so in all honesty, we don't care what you say or how you say it, thats your choice, and if someone thinks saying f*ck 10 times in a sentence is cool, then whatever. But we do care about peoples parental blocks not allowing them to get on the site, and thats why we have censorship. You can still be profane, but there is an asterik in it! Big deal, nothing to flip out about. Now, if you're only concerned about yourself and what you can say thats fine. But the administration of this site is concerned about all of our users =]
Oh, and MrBrightsideIsMyHero..
Plus, our mods are awesome. It's not like they're these alien robots...
NeoSteph is from Mars..

But you see, the censorship issue is beyond your control.
Instead of the word being spelled out for you, there's a tiny * instead. You're still going to know what the word is.
Plus, our mods are awesome. It's not like they're these alien robots who control the site really strictly. They're people just like us, whom we can talk to and get to know better like friends.
GSB is like a really big, diverse family.

We're not going to get banned for having a different opinion.
Riot on the Radio, August 4th, 2007 at 01:08:40pm
If he didnt want you to swear at all completely he'd ban you the second you uttered one.
Think about it.
It's only making the site look pretty.
Tholomew Plague, August 4th, 2007 at 08:02:17am
Sometimes it gets out of hand.
It may be annoying, but some people were being really graphic on here. There are 9 year olds and such, they repeat what they hear.
It's only a tiny inconvenience, it doesn't bother me so much. Plus now people can go to GSB from schoo, computers because it doesn't stop them from coming here because of the swearing.
I come to GSB partially out of habit and partially because I can talk to other people with the same interests as me, write things and have them constructively criticized, and read cool things; not to swear.
Miley Cyrus, August 4th, 2007 at 06:19:16am
The censorship isn't there to stop teens from swearing at all. I thought that had been dealt with a while back. It is there so that those students accessing the site from school can actually view the pages containing swearing, as many schools, libraries, etc will not allow pages to be viewed that contain that language. It is not some crusade to teach you not to swear. It was done to provide better access to those that use the site. And you can swear, it just puts a star in. It's not really a big deal.
Grandma, August 4th, 2007 at 06:19:04am
wouldn't it be easier if you could swear?
Arabia FUCK YEAH., August 4th, 2007 at 06:14:42am
Well, they have the power because they have more responibility.
I like the mods we have ^__^ They make things everything nice and easy. You have to have some rules to keep things organized.
