Corfu 2007 [My Holiday]

On the 30th July, 11am, flight MON1828 set off from MCR [Manchester] Airport, on its way to a 3h30 flight to Corfu, with a strong wind in our favour. I’m sure I only left home about 6ish, ringing a few people before I left.

Corfu:

Corfu is a small island; we drove from Aparos to Kavos in 3 hours [both locations shown on the map. There’s only one commercial airport in Corfu, and that was where I both started and finished my holiday. A few specific towns left an impact on me, the subject of the next bits of my blog.

Nissaki:
Our destination. We stayed in a small villa, just off the main road. Nissaki is a small village, with a couple of small beaches, villas and tavernas. It’s not a place of outstanding beauty, or something overly special, the only thing is that it’s a nice place. The people are kind, it’s easy to survive there and after 3 years alternately of going there, it’s still amazing.

Kavos:
Described as the 18-30 British area, this place made me laugh. As we went in, naked people slept at the road side, there were various sex shops, bars and KFCs. We didn’t stop here, my mum was too scared to leave the vechicle, but we drove through it for about 20 minutes, and I loved it. I mean, I would have hated to stay there; the lap dancing club scene is not my thing, but still, it was fun.

Ipsos:
Basically, one beach strip with many shops, but there’s someone for everyone. A quiet beach at one side, a fast paced water sport zone at the other, all of this backing onto a row of every shop, from a spar that sells porn and pirate DVDs to a Greek Folk Store

Our Villa:
A refurbished olive press, many flaws, uncomfortable in everyway, but homely, in a weird way. Nothing much more to say.

Our Pool:
Pools are great. I love holidays when it’s so hot, and the pools so cold and refreshing. But they’re good just to relax or to exercise. Get a lilo and sunbathe on a gentle current, or swim a km like I did. Either way, they’re multi functional and fun!

Would I Recommend?
Yes. Corfu has multi diversity, and is quite crime free and safe. There’s places to suit everyone and every budget. So fly today =]
