Flamingo Land: ‘X-treme Rides’ Guide
According to Flamingo Land, there are 6 rides which are classed as ‘X-treme’ and this blog is to tell you all about them. [And with yet again, not being directly linked to any category, it is placed in life for containing my opinions.]
Kumali
The newest ‘X-treme’ ride. Named after the male lion, the track of over 1000m and with a G-Force of 4.5, you know you’re in for a treat.
This ride is amazing, and although short, the queue was small, you rise up to the highest point in the park, then shoot down, going round loops and spinning you round. But watch out, it can hurt your neck if you don’t sit back, as one of my friends found out. Also as you rise up, you get an amazing view of the park, and I’d recommend removing shoes; no reason, just it feels amazing to do so.

Velocity
The UK’s only motorbike themed rollercoaster, with no loops it’s designed to be like a Grand Prix race; where speeds of 100mph are reached in 3 seconds.
This ride is highly built up. There’s a lot of revving noise, and 5 seconds later you take off into sharp turns, hairpin bends and high drops. A lot tamer than the Kumali it is perfect for someone who’s a little anxious about rollercoasters. Yet again, the ride is very fast, abut not worth a long queue wait.

The Cliffhanger
The first non-rollercoaster on the list, you are sent over 55 metres [200ft] up into the air, where you are held for a brief moment before you plunge downwards in a free fall motion, pausing, waiting for the whole thing to repeat.
Yet again, an amazing view of the park, but it’s not for the fainthearted. Your stomach is shaken, yet it feels so different; but not bad, as with the others it is short, but there is little queuing, we only waited for about 1 minute.

Corkscrew
One of the oldest rides at the park, it’s still a favourite. With two corkscrew twists and tight turns among violent drops, it sure gets the adrenaline pumping.
Ouch. Keep your head still or be violently hurt. It will smash you against barriers and will bruise your jaws, but when this is not happening, it’s a good rollercoaster. Although I would not say “X-treme” it is worth a visit, and is good for people a little scared of the bigger ones.

The Navigator
Imagine a horse shoe, rooted in the ground. Now imagine riding a circular spinning disc back and forth. It may look and sound tame, but when you’re 30metres in the air it’s hard to stay relaxed.
Great ride. It lasts a while and because 45ish people can get on at once, the queues fly by. Personally, I found it fun, but 2 of my friends found the sharp drops and rolling noises too much to handle. Yet again, not too ‘X-treme’ but worth the ride.

The Circulator
The ultimate scary ride, revolving at 360 degrees, see the world upside down from 60 foot in the air. Not for the faint hearted; only the brave may enter.
The seats are lose, the machine clicks and you find yourself lifted out of your seat, dangling against the protective bar. Although slow, you get a real feel for the park with this long ride. You’ll feel almost weightless as your body is tossed and turned in mid air, because of the fear factor, there is basically no queue.

What do I recommend?
If you’re brave enough: all of them! But if you’re a little scared do the Kumali, Velocity, Corkscrew and The Navigator. Cliffhanger and The Circulator were rejected as rides my 2/4 of my friends, because of the fear. But yes, if you can handle it, try them all. In fact, try most rides. Flamingo Land is an amazing day out for everyone; even if you hate rides, there’s a giant zoo on the back of it, a kids area and water ride part. You’ll find something you love, I can guarantee that!
