Slash.
What is Slash?
The typical defanition for slash is A homosexual pairing or experience shared between members of a Band, Group, Television series, Movie or cartoon (Anime etc). , for those who didn't know.
Slash History
Apparently 'Slash' originated from the Televison show Star Trek with Kirk and Spock as the pairing. It was published in a fan magazine but instead of using names the author used 'him' and 'he'. It then began to branch out to Starksy and Hutch, The Cure and, now, Green Day. It is named slash because of the '/' seperating the two names in the pairing. Most slash is written and read by women in their late pre-teens, early teens and up to their mid 20's.
Slash Catagories or 'Slashagories'
Slash comes in its main form which is a fan fiction.
Drawings
Edited photographs, usually edited to seem as if the two featured characters are embracing in a kiss or giving each other a 'Suductive' look.
Femmeslash is a pairing between 2 females.
Alot of slash includes violence, bondage, angst and sometimes rape.
'RPS' stands for Real Person Slash.
Ratings
Each Slash storie should be accompanied by a rating. Ranging from:
G- Which would probably be hand holding, 'I Love You' or a peck on the cheek.
PG- A more pashionate kiss, touching or mild profanity.
PG-13- Making out, Kissing in further detail, profanity, mild violence the suggestion of sex.
R- Drug use, Mild/Medium amounts of sex scenes, profanity, medium amounts of violence or the suggestion of rape.
NC-17- High, graphic and explict amounts of sex scenes or 'hardcore' sex scenes, rape, bondadge and everything featured in all the other warnings.
Examples of Slash
He felt his hand move from his hair, and fingertips brushed his shoulder, making him shiver slightly. The hand finally settled just under the other his shoulder blade, warm against his exposed skin. - Taken from a NC-17 story of B.S.H.

Harry Potter Slash- A PG-13 drawimg taken from Deviantart.
They've got slash now?!
I've seen: Green Day slash, MCR slash, FOB slash, Harry Potter slash, Back Street Boys Slash, The Mighty Boosh Slash, Star Trek Slash, Bam slash, Dr Who slash, Robots In Disguise femmeslash, House slash and even Spice Girls slash.
Every band, TV show and Movie has their own slash category now.
I think it's because todays society is becoming more comfertable with homosexuality.
Slash is dirty, perverted or disgusting,
It's freedom of speech.

I personally haven't read slash stories & I doubt I would enjoy. Maybe that has something to do with me seeing band members as nothing more than good musicians, talented songwriters and, mostly, nice persons. I wouldn't want to imagine any relationship more than good friendship between any members.
Although, an older friend recently told me there's The Libertines slash and I was like DDDD: I didn't even want to know, thankyouverymuch.

"Also, I've heard a 'celebrity' who knows that their are people out there writing these things. He said: 2005: On the Series 2 DVD commentary for The Mighty Boosh, technophobe Noel Fielding mentions that he has found a story on the internet "where they took this situation and turned it into porn. It was filthy." He and the other participants seem rather amused at the idea, with Noel giggling "It quite turned me on, actually." "
*mad spazz* I swear, I actually DIED when he said that!!! *runs in circles at the reminder*

I enjoy slash on some occasions,
only if it is well written.
Rape scenes are disturbing,
but thats only because I am a really visual person.

I disagree. I mean it's good society is becoming comfortable with homosexuals and that's really great, really.
But slash is like the teenage girl version of...well 'original' porn for the teenage boys. Just it's usually in written fiction instead of graphic photos.
I have no problem with people reading slash though, it's their choice and I can respect people's desicions. I just think it's disgusting, and most people who slash is written about dislike it a lot, and I like to respect their wishes.
Actually, MCR in an interview said they have no problem with people reading and writing fanfiction, it's just the slash they don't like.

Slash is just terribly written most of the time, because most of the time the people who wrote it have never even had sex so what they know is from someone else's description, hence making it terrible. The rest who have had sex, mostly aren't male and/or a gay male who's experienced sex which makes it even more disturbing/gross.
Some of the stories I've seen were written well, but ruined by the fact that it either had a sex scene/far too much angst/one of the characters having a problem or dying/the protagonists having characteristics they never show or would not be like them/not having any wholesome characters apart from the two protagonists.
Why do people get offended by it? Because it's a terrible waste of writing talent (IF you have any) and most people don't envision their favourite band members sucking each other off contrary to what a lot of you think.
Even more so it creeps out most of the actual people who are portrayed in this way, especially since you don't know what they're actually like and maybe also the fact that you're writing them having sex with their best friend or even sometimes sibling (That is beyond gross) so yeah I'll have some incest with a dash of angsty cutting rape please to go.

Mr. Teatime, October 10th, 2007 at 02:36:19pm
I've read Slash before, and I'm not into it that much.
But the way the author described the scene, was really good.
Skippy., October 10th, 2007 at 10:03:25am
I agree to an extent.
I think the ones that have rape in them are wrong.
Because rape isn't something anyone should take pleasure in reading, writing or doing.
Every Slash story I've read has a disclaimer.
Saying things like 'I do not own any of the characters, TV shows, Movies or Music these people are involved in. This is out of fun. Don't sure me, blah blah.'
Not everything as to have sex in it, liek I said there are ratings.
I've read one that had sex in it, but not too much, it was written extremely well. I admired the person for their writing and story line, not their ability to write sex scenes.
Also, I've heard a 'celebrity' who knows that their are people out there writing these things. He said: 2005: On the Series 2 DVD commentary for The Mighty Boosh, technophobe Noel Fielding mentions that he has found a story on the internet "where they took this situation and turned it into porn. It was filthy." He and the other participants seem rather amused at the idea, with Noel giggling "It quite turned me on, actually."
So, not all, though some, people may be offended by Slash fan fiction.
germma margaret!, October 10th, 2007 at 09:04:09am
"It's freedom of speech."
Not if it is in relation to an actual person. The reality is a person or celebrity could very well take offence and sue if they chose to do so. Personally I despise the way some stories are written twisting the person into a groteseque figure, ie pedopihilia, abuser, rapist, cheating husband etc. Very few of you would openly say you admire that type of person, yet these author's often portray those they look up to in this manner. Fiction it may be, but those concerned if they came across it, would wonder what the hell was going on in the minds of their 'fans' that they would write those things. Hurt they would be. No one likes to be the target of bullsh*t stories. Think about it the next time rumours are spread about yourselves, and ask yourself if you write these stories, am I not doing exactly the same thing?
I have nothing against general fanfiction or slash, just the ones that portray respectable people as sick perverted criminals.

I personally hate slash. I think it's creepy, gross and wierd.
yes we have our secret little fantasies..but...making disgusting stories like that is going a bit too far..in my opinion. but on the up side it's creativity, and peoples imagination at work.
I just don't think stories need sex in them to be good, along with movies and music
I really like this blog
