Looking Forward While Missing The Present?

When we're young, say in our teens years, we look forward so much to growing up and being older. You act older, just to show your parents you're responsible enough or prove something to yourself. You see, when you do that, you're missing out on your present and what you're really supposed to be doing. Just be a kid.

You can't go back into your past, but always go into the future. Enjoy what you have right as you have it and when you can enjoy it. Because you can't go back. Don't rush yourself to grow up because you just end up missing so much and wishing you could go back to relive it.

Two years ago, my history teacher always said, "learn from the past live in the present and plan for the future." I never understood what that meant until I'd realized I had tried too hard to grow up too fast. When I look back on my life from when I was 13 and 14 I realize I've missed out on so much. I never went to the middle school dances because it wasn't a 'grown up' thing to do, even if they did suck.

As of right now, I like where I am in life. Even if I wish I could go back and experience the things that I've missed. I'm acting my age and I know I'm going to mess things up, it's what teenagers do.

What I'm trying to say is. Be happy with being a kid. You're only a kid for a short amount of time. You're expected to reek havoc and cause trouble. Take it to your advantage. Enjoy what you have before you lose it. Once you reach 20 something, you wish you could go back just to experience it again. So live it out and act your age!
