2007: A Year To Remember.

My highlights…well…let’s not beat around the bush; Elliot Minor. Discovering them in March 2007 meant that many of my precious memories are to do with them:
-April 10th Met Them
-May 19th Concert
-October 27th “ Concert & Met Them
-October 29th “ Live In HMV and Met Them
-Three phone conversations with Ed, one with Alex, one with Ali and a voicemail off Teddy.

Webisodes which make me smile [there’s one tonight! *spazz*], emails that make me laugh, just in general making me smile. I discovered these boys in 2007 and I guarantee I’ll love them for life.

Those alone could be the best moments of my year. But there’s more, I made more friends at school. In year 7-9, I had the same set of friends but they slowly turned their backs on me, meaning for a proportion of year 10 I only really had one good friend and when she moved away I had no one really, but then I just slowly, at first, made friends and made friends with their friends and so on. And not forgetting GSB friends, who bonds have grown stronger with. To name you all would take me to 2009.

And Maria. I think it was some time in 2007 we became best friends. Or it might have been 2006. Either way it feels like we’ve been friends for years and I love her. She rocks and is amazing and another is reason why I love 2007. She showed me Boosh, R.I.D. and so much more.

But what else? Well, combining the two above I think my Elliot Minor friends are love. Steph, Lizzie, Lottie, El and anyone else who either I’ve spread the bug to or have just met along the way. There’s a bond between us of this band and I wouldn’t change it for the world.

So okay, Elliot Minor, friends, anything else? Yes. I’ve grown to accept myself. For the majority of 2006 [pre September] I lacked self confidence. Yes, I could get up on stage and talk to thousands [actually, that occurred 6 years ago] but I thought I was ugly and a mess that no one could ever love; mainly because when my friends turned their backs on me, those are the insults that were thrust upon me, raining down like tiny daggers. Now I know that I’m not the prettiest girl ever, but I’m happy. So why care?

So how else have I grown? Physically…breasts annoy me, make life harder. But I’m talking about mentally. See I write a lot of descriptive writing and at the beginning of 2007, I wrote this:
“Water dripped from every surface in the frost room, leaving open the window was not her best idea. Cold breezes ran through her veins among blood which was soon to be lost. Clouds of breath still blew out from her frail body, distilling into the icy room. With each one life left her body, life she could never claim back”“Eyeliner Tears

But I’ve improved. This was a okay paragraph within a sea of disappointment, now my writing is this:

“If they had dared to enter the red mess they would have seen the pale body of their friend, lips of a purple tinge, skin of yellow. Below his torso loose skin flapped down, drips of blood occasionally falling. The intestines were held in place by the large fan that had dug itself into the ground after severing the guitarist in half. To the other side it was identical, the skin, the blood, the gore; except this side seemed out of place, almost like the force had made it spasm slightly, causing it now to rest at a weird angle. The blood had slowly began to spread throughout the night, with the original splatter covering nearby tables, chairs and even hitting the fridge which had been left open throughout the night. Puddles had scattered round the room, some dispersing into the doorway, being soaked up by the hall carpet, turning the once neutral fibres into a source of brown oxidised blood. Not a sight for the faint hearted”. “ Stay Alive

I can write more fluently, calmly and effortlessly. My friends envy my flair for random sentences which has been a new thing this year.

Okay, Elliot Minor, friends, physical growth, story writing, nothing else, right? Wrong. Equestrianism. I’m an avid horse rider. My parents have offered to buy me a horse, but I don’t have the time, so instead I ride weekly. At the beginning of 2007 I was riding Tom, a small piebald about 14.2hh, but now I’m about 5ft6/7…according to my dad at least. After a mis-booking I was placed on Tinkerbell. A 15hh-ish female who had a tendency to be rough and scared. But she was alright and I enjoyed the difference. Soon though, I was back where I started with Dazzle, a bigger version of Tom. But switching between the three gave me variation. Then I met April. Wow. She’s the largest horse on the yard, with her being about 17/8hh, which means her back is taller than my head. But then there’s also Wellie at about 16hh. He’s the horse that apparently requires the most work. A few months back he went mad and threw someone off and went galloping away and now he’s almost black listed. But riding him…wow…he’s an immense creature with such a lure that it’s unreal.
