It Just Sorta Got Me Thinking…
What sort of person isn't going to like Elliot Minor?
The type of person who has to put music into a category and says that they have to like one type of music and hate another. We hate being put into a category, it would be cool to do a really commercial pop song and then follow it up with a really dark metal track to really shake things up. It's really hard to do that these days because people want you to stick to one sound, to be one sort of band.

This got me thinking. See, many of my friends have rejected Elliot Minor for not being in their ‘category’ as one bluntly put it. Too rock for the pop fans, too pop for the rock fans and too different for everyone else.
Now, this blog is about the brief segment of the population who feel you can only like bands within one category. For example, most bands I like are rock, meaning I can’t like any other music; apparently. But I can. And that’s why I like Elliot Minor; their music varies every genre. Jessica for example. As well as the standard version we had dark angel [dark, instrumental], piano acoustic and alternative/dance, which even incorporated a nice little rap and jazz flute solo. They have synthesisers among harpsichords…
I can’t believe I just did that. Other than the quote I wasn’t planning to mention the boys…
Back to the blog now. Imagine if Green Day, imagine if their new album was more pop than Barbie Girl, what would happen? They’d be criticised, even if it was amazing. What about a heavy metal dark screamo type combination that set a new goal; criticism. The only way Green Day wouldn’t be criticised would be if they did the same thing they’d so many times before. Except, this kind of fails on Green Day, because their music shows many contrasts within, but let’s imagine not for the purpose of that argument.
When people ask ‘what their music sounds like?” I want to say “everything.” I love bands who break the moulds. When they want me to compare them to a band I want to not be able to think of one that sounds similar, although that is a lot to ask for.

I have got one song by Elliot Minor, i think its called 'parrallell worlds', or something like that, i like the song.
and its weird when people come up to me and ask me what music i like, i start off by saying 'Punk music", then i say 'Raggae is cool', and then 'rock' so on and so forth, its funny XD
