This means the world to me.

Friendship is maybe the most common topics in blogs. We say thank you to our friends, we tell them we love them, we ask for advice in friendship issues or write about fights we had with friends. Some people write about their friends in school, others about their friends on GSB. I’ve written about all of that, too. This blog is yet just another one of them. It’s nothing special to anyone of you, but it means a lot to me. Therefore I chose to write about it.

Today I opened the mailbox and I found a letter. It was from one of my best friends. Her name is Antje. She was the one who made it possible that I could meet Nick. Back then my parents didn’t allow me to go there all by myself and none of my friends were able to join me. She did. She gave the promise to me as a birthday present almost a year ago. Even though I’m not together with Nick anymore, she made my biggest dream back then come true. Thanks to her I could meet the one I loved.

We’ve known each other since fifth grade which was more than 10 years ago. A first I didn’t like her because she always used to hit everyone when she was a kid : P But when me and my parents moved within the same town we had the same road to school and got big friends.

To be exact, we are three best friends. Vinni is the third one in the round. Vinni actually also has an account on here but she never uses it anymore. Just like Antje I’ve met her in fifth grade. With both it took me a while to get close but now we’re inseparable. Those two are the ones I can tell and talk about anything and everything, whether it’s secrets, look, guys, sexual things or just stupid ridiculous stuff. Unfortunately, we now live far away from each other. Three years ago we went separate ways, applied on different universities and now barely see each other anymore. Often friendships break or get less stronger over the distance after a while, but even after three years of distance our friendship is stronger than ever. We talk on the phone almost every day and meet on each semester break. Sometimes it doesn’t even feel as if they lived that far away because we phone each other regularly.

Now I didn’t tell you yet what I found in the letter from Antje. Antje sent the letter to both me and Vinni and we both had the same thing in. It was a necklace with a heart and a key and they heart says: Best friends 4-ever. All three of us have one.

Now it might seem childish but it made me smile so much. A lot of “best friends” have necklaces like that, but it still makes me feel special, maybe especially because I didn’t expect it and it came on no special occasion. In addition to that, little things like that mean a lot more when you don’t see each other than often. Now even with the distance we always have a part of each other with us.

It’s the greatest feeling when you know and feel that you mean something to someone, that there are people outside your family who care for you, who love you for who you are. I love how I can simply be myself around them. I can be childish; I can be goofy; I can be stupid and embarrassing and it doesn’t matter at all. To me friendship is the most important and precious thing in this world and I think we should all hold close to our friends. They don’t just share the same interests as you, they also go through the same things as you. They help you in need and are there for you whenever you need them. But of course it’s also a lot of fun to be around them and they are the coolest to hang out with. It’s more precious to have a few close friends than having hundreds of random friends.

This blog may be just about two of my closest friends but besides my “normal” friends I actually have six best friends. These two though, are the bestest out of my best friends.

Vinni and Antje, I love you.

We’re the three on the left in the first picture, and the three on the right in the second picture. It’s a very old picture from three years ago. My hair was really dark back then XD
