20 Quick Song Reviews

So…my illness is hurting and after failing at my last blog, I’m going to give you a review of the first 20 songs on my iPod shuffle.

Prepare to feel the shame…

1. Jessica [Piano/Acoustic Version] – Elliot Minor
This is a really fun track. The actual song is powerful while this is light, cheerful and a lot more relaxed. Imagine 5 guys messing around with a piano, a guitar and randomly singing. It’s worth while and only available through download.

2. Sometimes You Are Wrong – Give Or Take
As a free demo, it’s amazing. Now, it’s currently an Elliot Minor song, but the writer, Alex Davies, was originally in this band and recorded a different version [lyrics and arrangements vary]. The recording equipment was poor and sometimes the instruments are wrongly emphasised, yet it still works.

3. Minority – Green Day
Oh, you all know this song. What more is there to say? An ultimate track.

4. Even New Wine – Give Or Take
I only have 5 songs by these guys and two come up now? Weird. Anyway, this one didn’t make it into an Elliot Minor song really, but it’s still an awesome track. Again, lyrics are hard to make out in places, but it’s a decent song that you can really get into.

5. King For A Day – Green Day
I love this song, yet I swear my iPod is trying to make you think I only like Elliot Minor, Green Day & bands to do with them…

6. Woodchuck – gO:Audio
Is that capitalised right? Not sure, but yeah, it’s upbeat, simple catchy, easy to understand and pick up as well as a general good track. Not the usual thing I’d listen to, but it doesn’t matter; I love it.

7. The Middle – Jimmy Eat World
Utter pwnage. I find it impossible to get sick of this song; really, it’s amazing and works really well as a track for all to love.

8. Always Be – Jimmy Eat World
Okay…so again my iPod decides to favour certain bands, but still it’s a good song. Quite light and loose, worth a listen to with what appears to be a wide audience across the genres.

9. Now She’s Gone – Elliot Minor
As one of the B-Sides to TWOIE, it leaves you wondering why it didn’t get more recognition. But with amazing vocals, well mixed drum tracks and distinctive lyrics, it’s just something to make you smile.

10. You Give Love A Bad Name – Bon Jovi
Oooo, utter classic. With an anthem of a track you really can’t go wrong.

11. Supermodel Robots – The Network
Another song that most of you will know. It’s bright, interesting and generally a pleasure to listen to.

12. Still Figuring Out – Elliot Minor
Amazing live but yeah, this is the standard version with enough mixing to create an immense sound. A lot of effort has been put into this and it shows.

13. One Wish – Elliot Minor
Originally a slightly different song by ‘Give Or Take’, it’s a long intro that leads way into an old demo that’s light with the distinct classic rock sound.

14. St Jimmy – Green Day
You’ll know this one too; also a decent song.

15. Still Figuring Out [Film Score Version] – Elliot Minor
With tons of effort, this track has been revamped and filled with orchestral sounds; imagine Jurassic Park theme tune meets…well…meets Elliot Minor.

16. First Date – Blink 182
Okay, so they grew on me. This song is just a fun track that can brighten a mood, or heavily distract you from your art GCSE. I find it gets stuck in my head, yet it doesn’t matter; it’s good enough to stay there happily.

17. Pedestrian – Foxboro Hot Tubs
Another non-Green-Day-actually-we-are-Green-Day-song that’s again just nice to listen to and get into. Most of you will also have heard this.

18. Blood, Sex & Booze – Green Day
Oh, this is always fun to come up when sharing headphones. Yet also it’s an amazing song, which again, you probably know enough about.

19. I Won’t Be Home For Christmas – Blink 182
Okay…I swear I have a wider range of artists. Another comedy classic as far as I’m concerned.

20. Starlight – Muse
Oooo, Muse. This song seems to appeal to a wide audience; it’s not smashed with riffs or terrorised with violence; it’s just enjoyable.
