Global Warming

Global Warming is a hot topic. There are two main questions concerning Global Warming that continue to remain a heated topic of debate: Is Global Warming a natural recurring process of the earth OR Is Global Warming the cause of human activity??

While the debate remains unsolved, scientists continue to investigate and are constantly discovering new evidence. However, despite continues evidence of the earth’s destruction; people remain oblivious to their surroundings.

Perhaps it’s denial. Maybe people feel that what they ignore will disappear. But being realistic, this constant neglect of information and the over use of resources has done nothing in this struggle to continue man kind. Regardless of whom you are and what you believe, humans are not the extreme. Nature will always win and nature will always remain superior.

As it stands, the world is just exiting the last ice age and already we have caused further disasters. The world is now beginning to witness the wrath of Global Warming with high speed hurricanes and flash floods with disastrous results. The warming climate is now releasing the most powerful green house gases into the world. Methane. Trapped methane gases wait below the soft sediments of lake floors to be released into the earth’s atmosphere. If the temperature continues to rise more methane will be released, plunging the world into a giant heating globe which can compare to nothing except what the earth experienced 55, 000 years ago.

Coastal cities will be buried beneath water and tens of thousands of people will become refugees as they escape to high grounds. And that’s just the beginning. Temperatures could rise enough to heat the seas and in turn release higher levels of methane gas. Our survival will depend of our ability to adapt.

And it isn’t just polar ice caps that are melting; the Worlds Mountains are too showing signs of Global Warming. Beneath YellowStone National Park, one of the worlds largest super volcano remains bubbling and waiting. Its next eruption is 50, 000 years overdue! If Yellow Stone does erupt, the earth will be plunged into a devastating atmosphere, destroying continents with it’s blast and killing billions of animals and humans.

Millions will starve. Populations will migrate. Max exodus will trigger war as nations battle for resources and land. This earth is suffering a rapid profound global climatic change and already, a mass extinction is underway. During the course of last year, 5, 000 species were extinct and this may well rise within the coming years.

But people are finally waking up to the problems as commission leaders try to pass new laws and acts. Governments spend more money on recycling bins and a larger number of people have begun joining environmentally friendly groups.
Unfortunately old habits die hard for some people. Compared to three years ago, China have now begun to burn fossil fuels at a higher rate. At least 80% of Chinas electricity come from fossil fuels.

World wide action can make a difference! We have some time but the clock is ticking.

What will it take to make people realise the damage? It may take major catastrophes to make us realise. It wasn’t the heat wave that killed 35, 000 people in Europe and it wasn’t hurricane Katrina in New Orleans. I think eventually we will develop substantial technology that will in some way help, but we need more then technology, we need unity and we need the sense to help each other. Wake up and look around you. We are all responsible for global warming. Every time you ride in a car, a bus, a plane, you contribute to global warming. Every time you leave the light on, the tap running or when you use the clothes drier because you’re too lazy to hang the washing out, you contribute. And don’t forget, your contributing right now. Your reading this blog, on your computer, using electricity - we are all contributing.

Our own destiny lies within our hands.
