Katy Perry
What's wrong with liking Katy Perry?
I know people who don't like her because she cheated on a guy, but just because the artist made some mistakes doesn't mean you can hate the person, and doesn't make it your business anyway, and just because you don't like the artist doesn't mean you can't like the music.
I know people who don't like her because of the genre of music she sings. It's understandable to not like a certain type of music, I suppose, but you should at least be open to it because, in my opinion, every single genre has at least one song that you like. I like at least one song from each genre, and my belief is that everyone has at least one rap song, one pop song, one hip hop song, one classic rock song, one metal song, one punk song, one alternative song, one emo song, etc. that they like. And if you haven't given this artist a chance, then how can you hate her so much? And why do you hace to be so openly hostile to Katy Perry and her fans?
I know people who don't like her because she sings "I Kissed A Girl." They rant and rave about how that song's "so gay," but that's homophobia. And in the immortal words of Frank Iero's t-shirt, HOMOPHOBIA IS GAY. So what if she sings "I kissed a girl and I liked it?" People everywhere can relate to that song. I can relate to that song, people I know can relate to that song, and people I don't know can relate to that song. People listen to that song and get shit for "being gay" when a lot of them aren't, and even if they are why are they getting shit for it?
I know people who don't like her because of how she dresses. So what if she dresses a certain way? So what? That's a problemto you? Well then screw off.
I hate being called anything I'm not, and I tend to "get defensive" which makes people think they're right. When people call me emo I tell them off or cuss them out. When people call me gay because I listen to Katy Perry, I flip out on them and they think they're right. I'm not gay, I'm bi. But to people like that it's like there's only "gay" and "straight."
I was sitting on the bus and my neighbor/friend-like acquaintance Alex asked me what was on my iPod. We were talking about it and I told him I've got two pop artists on my iPod. He asked what they were and I said "Maroon 5." and he interrupted me to say that he already knew that because I listen to their dirtier songs a lot and told me to continue. Then I said, "Maroon 5 and Katy Perry." He gave me this incredulous look and said, "Katy Perry? You listen to Katy Perry?" I told him yeah and he demanded that I show him "proof." So I did and he said "Wow. I never thought someone like you could listen to Katy Perry." I got all indignant and he started to try to defend himself, but he really sucks with words.
Then someone told me to slit my wrists as they so often say, but that's beside the point.
But what's wrong with liking Katy Perry? So what if she sings a certain genre? So what if she cheated on her boyfriend? So what if "she kissed a girl and she liked it?"

To me, music is music.
her songs are catchy as she's mad funny, so i like her
and she looks exactly like zooey deschanel omg
as for "people are supposed to hate her and are supposed to like her" - no, people can dislike her as an artist, but disliking someone as a person when you don't even know them is pathetic tbh

At first, I really didn't want to like Katy Perry. She was just so cute and innocent, and I kind of felt like she was poking fun at the girls all over who really have "kissed a girl and liked it". But after listening to her whole album, I decided that I could let a little Pop slide through my alternative/punk barriers. Good blog, nice to hear some intelligent rants every now and again. :D

I actually think she's amazing. She's so different compared to the other stuff i listen to, maybe thats the reason why i like her.

I like some of her music. It's alright. I'm a bit sick of her, but she's alright. She can sing, but not a huge fan of her voice. I think she's sooooo gorgeous though. I love her hair and her style.
good blog :]

I linda like Katy Perry. I'm not totally sure...but there's something about her that...I like. And aside from the granny pants, I like her style of clothing.
