what ever happend to "land of the free and home of the brave"?
Democracy: government by the people; especially: rule of the majority.
Well, the far majority of Americans want USA out of Iraq, as do they want marijuana to be legal for medical purpose. They are also Pro-Choice, want the government to do more about the environment, and disapprove of the Bush Admin. 68% of Americans say USA is "off on the wrong track". Does this all not mean anything to the government? do they not understand democracy or just not care?
Then there are the human rights abuses, Guantánamo Bay of course, By the end of the year, more than 500 detainees of around 35 nationalities continued to be held without charge or trial at the US naval base in Guantánamo Bay. I know they are not US citizens but it’s still not what USA stands for, how can we be sure these people are terrorists without a trial? And if people think they are going to get sent to jail without trial they may go “well im going to go to jail so why not comment terrorist acts anyway?”
Photographic evidence of the torture and ill-treatment of detainees in Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq by US soldiers became public in late April, causing widespread national and international concern. Bush doesn’t seem to care about that, witch is also not what USA stands for!
And our troops, they risk there life for the country. So why send them out and let them get killed when we don’t need them to fight? People wont volunteer for the military if this keeps happening! What would happen if we really needed them some day and there where not enough of them because they thought they would get sent out on pointless wars? Surely bringing the draft back would be awful!
And the Walter Reed thing? Is this how we support our troops? By sending them to moldy hospitals?
Two-thirds of the American people say the American Dream is becoming harder to achieve. Look at the whole border thing, the Mexicans are coming here for a better life, just like most of our ancestors did, why cant they come here? Don’t they deserve a better life just like the Europeans did hundreds of years ago? Fifty-three percent of African-Americans said they are not living the American Dream; 36% of Hispanics and 32% of Caucasians have the same view.
And freedom, the government can’t tell people who to love! Gay marriage is not wrong; they are not doing anything bad. And we should have our privacy, if someone calls there relative in the Middle East to wish them a happy birthday what are the chances of that being terrorist related? And Bush was the one who ignored the warnings of 9/11 in the first place! Then they go and leak CIA names! That’s putting peoples life’s in danger that are trying to help the country.
The rest of the world is mad at us! The UK government, our most loyal allay, is realizing the war is wrong and pulling troops out, yet we send more in! France, Germany, Italy, they are all protesting the war! Doesn’t that mean something?
I could go on forever. The point is that the Bush admin doesn’t stand what America stands for, and everyone in other countries should think of America for what it stands for, no matter what goons are in power.

Your right about the war. I wont comment on the other issues because I do not know both sides aurguments but as for the war, we wil start the draft again if we stay in this war for 5-10 more years. Im prolly gonna end up being one of the sorry-ass bullet sopnges for it too. We really are screwed.......(and NO, i do not want you to pm me saying somthing conforting like "dont worry you wot die over there" becuse ive already accepted the fact that theres a 70% chance of dieing if i get drafted)

David Hicks, the aussie in Guantanemo Bay..
My teacher in english class was telling us about how he's treated.
Apparently, he is kept in a cell smaller than most kids rooms.
He is barely ever allowed outside and his room is right next to the rec room
so he can hear people moving around and stuff and know he can't join in. Then when he wants to go to sleep, they make it so that flurescent light over his bedhead flickers so he can't sleep either. -_-

I see the point you're trying to make about the Bush Admin, but a few of the statistics you gave are a bit off. "as do they want marijuana to be legal for medical purpose. They are also Pro-Choice, want the government to do more about the environment, and disapprove of the Bush Admin"
Marijuana is legal for medical purposes, and in fact alot of people have issues with that, which I don't see why because we have other medications made from the same opium plant. ALOT of America isn't prochoice, and as of now we have pro-choice laws. So, if the majority of America was pro choice, do you think there would be any debate over the issue? More than likely not. But there is, it's a complicated debate right now.
As for your section about immigration; they can come here if they do so legally. The reason people can't achieve the "American dream" is partly do to illegal immigration. Illegal immigration causes our economy to suffer badly.
