¿Viva la Gloria?
ACT ONE, SCENE THREE

(Curtains open again on the corner of Christy Road and Shame Street again where D11 is just now being taken away. Enter Christian SR carrying a small memorial for D11)
C: Goodbye Disciple Eleven, you were always loyal to St.Jimmy through the end. May your soul rest in peace.
(Christian puts down a flower on the memorial and turns to walk away. A voice calls out)
Voice: Grace
C: Huh? What? Who’s there?
Voice: Her name was Grace.
(A girl in her early twenties, just like Christian, steps out from behind a garbage can into the light. They look at each other and instantly fall in love. This girl is Gloria.)
G: She was my little sister.
C: Oh, I’m, I’m so sorry
(Gloria puts her head in her hands and starts to cry)
C: Little girl, little girl why are you crying? Inside your restless soul your heart is dying.
(He takes her hand and sees the scars up and down her wrists)
C: Little one, little one your soul is purging, of love and razor blades your blood is surging
G: So I run away, from the river to the street, and find myself with my face in the gutter.
C: You’re a stray for the Salvation Army,
C&G: There is no place like home,
G: when you got no place to go
C: Then why don’t you stay with me and my sister?
G: I don’t know…
C: Then where do you usually go?
G: With Grace and a few of the Disciples, now that Grace is gone, I don’t think I’d be as welcome there as I was before…
C: Well we’re having tryouts tomorrow, we need another Disciple now, and if you already know the girls, I think you’ve already got a pretty good shot. But I could put in a good word for you too; I’m one of St.Jimmy’s bodyguards.
G: Really? So I could start where my sister left off?
(C nods)
G: -pauses- ok I’ll do it. For her.
C: Sounds great, but for tonight, my offer is still up.
(G considers it)
G: Ok, sure.
C: Great.
(C offers g his arm and with elbows linked, they exit Sr. Curtain closes.)
