A different GSB popularity post
Reading theses Blogs I have crossed upon a subject that has been a subject in various posts. Popularity. To be precise, GSB popularity and populars. Who are those people? Well reading your posts I haven’t found an answer to that question. You all seem to have some ideas, but they are not very accurate. Maybe naming those people would make it clearer? Of course, no one is going to do that.
I remember being a newbie, reading different posts, getting to know different “GSB scenes” and GSBians. Some seemed to have more than 10 000 posts which was really a lot for me at that point. They were talking to other GSBians that had many posts as well. I though of them as some high-club, oh look they even know each-others real names. I quickly understood that they weren’t priests. I started talking to other GSBians as well, I have really good friends on this site, and I have 10 000 posts too (well not really, but you know what I mean). In a way, I am one of those people.
GSB is more than just a Green Day fansite, it is a real community. And you have to look at it that way. For example, it’s your first day in a new school. You don’t have any friends yet, but you do see people who have. They are older. It’s the same thing here. Everyone was a newbie in the beginning. You can’t expect people to know you and to talk to you if you don’t put yourself out there. It doesn’t have to be the thinking thread, it can be the SD forum, it can be one of the Green Day members thread, music forums etc. Be friends with people that have the same interests as you.
What does popularity mean to you? Having a lot of friends or being a mod (don’t trash those people, they are useful and friendly unlike on some sites) doesn’t make you one. My friend list in the beginning had one friend. Now I have more then 10. I just found things that I was good at or went to places where I was interested in the discussed subject. If you can make avatars “ show them! If you can debate “ go for it! If you can write poetry- do it and put your songs up here! You will get advice and a tap on the back. I have never met a rude member. The ones so called popular ones are far from being rude as well.
The things is GSB is a place where you can meet various people and be friends with ones you find most interesting. GSB princes and princesses do not exist. These are all ordinary people who have just started talking. They never neglected any of the new members. They wont do neglect you. I am not trying to offend any of you nor am I defending the ones you are accusing, I am just trying to make a point here. Hopefully, a valid one.

It was a really good point, but I have to admit that I know perfectly well who the GSB populars are. I'm not going to say them because I don't want to end up in a big argument with them saying I said this and I said that. I think that the "blah blah hor3s" as most people would put it, are really the closests and will probably win. So my point is like in every place, unless your in a dessert Island by yourself, there is a popular group of people and a not so popular group of people. ITs just a way of life. I hate it like that, but it is. And their are rude people on here, I've met quite a few, and quite a few think I'm one of them to. Its just a fact of life that when your with a lot of people their are going to be rude people, popular people, and just ordinary people. But you did a good job, this is just my opnion

Thank you. I was afraid that I would put things wrong since I don't go through the Blogs that much, but I am glad you liked it.

Good job for taking a different point of view on this. I think a lot of other people who were posting GSB Popularity Blogs were coming from the Blah Blah section, and the people over there are really.... different.... than the people on the Message Boards. I like the points you're making, but I'm not gonna lie when I say that the Journal activity is exactly like school.
I've been on here for 2 years and I've only been in the Journals. I only have about 400 posts on the MB.
