Age: - Gender: - Posts: 950 | August 24th, 2005 at 12:27pm I don't have a problem with teenage parenting at all. It's too easy for people to look in from their "responsible" little world and start shooting accusations all over the place. there are different circumstances behind the birth of these babies and it's not my place to judge unless I have proof that the kid is in danger |

Age: 34 Gender: Female Posts: 76615 | August 29th, 2005 at 06:23am I live in Croydon and we have the highest rate in London and one of the highest in the country.
I don't think I could face a baby at this age and I'm 16 tomorrow. I love kids but even when you're 30 and in a stable relationship they're huge work.
I know some teenage parents are excellent with their kids and, although it must be hard work, they love it. But it's sad how they're all labelled as Vicky Pollard-a-likes even if they can cope. |

But about the Vicky Pollard-like thing... I kind of agree with you, because some kids WANT these babies and can cope. Others just don't think its gonna happen to them and it does, then they end up not giving a shit about anything... |

Age: - Gender: - Posts: 39 | August 30th, 2005 at 01:54am Well, yeah, of couyrse it's bad, and I really oppose it, but some teens can really cope it, but in Africa, some places liek little 12 year olds marry 25 year olds, and that's where I draw the line. |

I don't think 18 is to young if you can cope. My Grandmother got married at sixteen and had my uncle at 19 and my mum at 20. She was a fantastic mum. I'm not saying you have to be married but I dunno...I guess it helps to have a partner or parents to help. |

Age: 34 Gender: Female Posts: 3050 | September 1st, 2005 at 04:35pm About young girls wanting to have kids so soon... they really should wait I think. Because you really should figure out yourself for a while, your life, before you have kids. There's probably also a lot of things they aren't thinking about, like money... because it costs a lot to raise a kid. They should at least take some time and figure out what they're doing first. |

Age: 32 Gender: Female Posts: 2019 | September 5th, 2005 at 12:39pm I think people shouldn't just be put down for having children young. It's not such a bad thing.
Some teenagers are brilliant parents.
It's just, they are young, so they might not be as educated on the matter or as responsible or prepared. And if they don't have family support it will be hard to cope.
I think it's up to people what they do, but surely if they wait until they have a great boyfriend/fiancee/husband and a good job and income, the baby will be better cared for, and after the wait it will be so much better. |
