Flea of the RHCP. End of. I love Mike Dirnt to death but he isn't half the bassist Flea is...Paul Simonon was pretty good too.

it depends on WHAT style of bass playing you're talking about...

Pluckers- would be Flea on the top of that list

Pickers- Mike Dirnt and mu hubby since they both use and play actual guitar chords instead of just picking one note at a time

Thumbers- whoever plays the Seinfeld theme music is whoa..

the greatest thing is coming here and knowing who just follows the bands they like and who knows music

i dont listen to primus. les claypool is amazing
i listen to green day, mike fucking sucks... i can write something better than him in my sleep
mark hoppus, i love blink and (+44) but hes not good either.

when you follow the guitar all the time, youre not a good bassist

I have to admit that I think Flea from RHCP is one hell of a guitarist.

I think Flea is a good bassplayer, however I have never enjoyed RHCP's style of music and I think that Flea is an asshole as a person. Therefore, I don't like him that much. But I do understand that he is good.

I guess I"m more into slap-style bassists and stuff
been loving some Marcus Miller lately cause he's amazing
and Stanley Clarke is just classic

hmm if you're into slap, i'm surprised you don't like flea. he's the master of slap [in modern day music]. and i've never heard of anything about him that would make him an asshole, but if you think so, ah well.

I'm more into jazz music at the moment though
and its not so much as I don't like flea's playing style but more like I don't like the band as a whole
and trust me I've seen all this crap he's constantly saying that makes him seem pretty arrogant to me
probably wouldn't wave at me like Victor Wooten did *is still obsessed with that moment in her life*

and I think Marcus Miller will always be the master of slap ;D

ah the bass in jazz music is pretty nuts for sure. they get the catchy lines and i do love it. too bad i dislike the trumpets [instrument that annoys me to no end].

marcus miller, i've never heard, maybe i should check it out.

[and more on topic...] i think jason newsted is quite a good bassist. i know many would disagree because he was up against cliff burton, but besides that fact, he's good.
