| Madeluxx King For A Couple Of Days  Age: 35 Gender: Female Posts: 2276  | Let's talk about the best band that exsisted in the Eighties, DURAN DURAN!!! Duran Duran formed in 1978, taking their name from the evil Doctor in the film Barberella. They hit out their self titled debut album in 1981 with the original line up of Simon LeBon on vocals, Nick Rhodes on Keyboard, John Taylor on Bass, Andy Taylor on lead guitar and Roger Taylor on Drums (none of the Taylor's related) Throughout the eighties they made their millions with records such as Rio, Seven and the Ragged Tiger and Arena an album of live track going through their North American tour 'Sing Blue Silver.' Also Duran Duran are well known for recording the famous track 'A View to A Kill' for the James Bond film making it the ONLY James Bond theme tune to ever hit number one! In 1985 Andy and John Taylor set out with Robert Palmer and did a side project called 'The Power Station' which came out more succesful than the other three original members of Duran's side project, 'Arcadia' After the members of Duran Duran had done their side projects, Roger Taylor and Andy Taylor decided Duran Duran was no longer their cup of tea and split from the band leaving the three remaining members recording 'Notorious' with additional muscians making probably the funkiest/soulful album Duran have ever recorded. The trio went through the late eighties making 'Big Thing' which ironically didn't turn out to be so "Big". With tracks such as 'I Don't WAnt Your Love' and 'All She Wants Is' the album had the sound of sleek house music. Duran Duran were a couple of years ahead of the house era. In 1989 an addition was made to Duran Duran when they recorded the album 'Liberty'. Guitarist Warren Cuccurullo became a full member of the band after recording two albums with the band. This gave them a stepping stone as they made a big hit comeback with their record 'The Wedding Album' in 1994, with one of their most famous hits 'Ordinary World' After recording 'Thank You' an album of cover songs, in 1997 John Taylor split from the band leaving Warren, Simon and Nick the remaining members of Duran Duran as the trio recorded Meddazaland and Pop Trash. As the year 2002 came around everyone thought Duran Duran were over, however the rumour of a reunion of the original five members were floating around. In 2003 Duran Duran, officially announced that the original five members were re-uniting, touring and were in the proccess of making a new album. In 2004 'Astronaut' was released and has sold a million copies to date. Their selling out shows all over the world and were offered the 'Outstanding Contribution to Music Award' at the Brits 2004.
