What Video And Singles Would You Release Off American Idiot?

You're in Green Day's position, having just recorded American Idiot. You now have to decide what singles/videos to release. What singles would you have released, and how would their videos shape up? here's my marketing of American Idiot:

Single - American Idiot
Video - Leave it as it is

Single - Give Me Novacaine
Video - J.O.S is walking through the streets of his new town, looking for something, or someone. He has no luck. He turns into an alleyway and finds another character, maybe St Jimmy, doing drugs. Green Day are in the corner of the alley, watching as J.O.S and St Jimmy start on the drugs and from there, the video follows the lyrical storyline and is broken every now and then by scenes of the band playing on their instruments at the end of the alley, Tre has just one drum or something.

Single - Holiday
Video - As it is.

Single - She's A Rebel
Video - Simply J.O.S and Whatsername getting to know each other, J.O.S visibly more attached as the video goes on.

Single - Whatsername
Video - J.O.S pulls into his driveway, finally home. He goes upstairs to find his room completely unchanged from when he left and lies back. He starts to think of Whatsername as stills from the She's A Rebel video and other stills flash through his mind. As the end of the song draws near, J.O.S goes to his window and gazes out. He thinks he spots Whatsername in the street. He shouts to get her attention but fails. As the last note of the song is played, he shuts his eyes and falls back onto his bed.

video- It would be just dawn (after BoBD which is night), and the JOS would be sitting on some hill overlooking his city. most likely it would be raining lightly, or drizzling. He'd be questioning himself, sort of singing up into the sky. He would look as if he's given up on everything. there would be some flash backs during the part where it says rage and love, the story of my life, the jesus of suburbia is a lie. actually there would have probably been more flash backs

Vid: JOS gets tired of all this failure and depression, so he assumes his new alias St Jimmy, the patron saint of Denial. in this vid it would be day time, and Jimmy would be running around the city, being all crazy and rebel like, kind of like in JOS but different cause now he feels like its him whos in control of this place.

and whats this about Cigarettes and Valentines? is that the name of the new album?

Mhmm.

I still find that funny saying it was "stolen" so close to getting it finished. I mean.. by then they wouldve had other copies of the songs not just the mastertapes.

But Reprise mostly decides what songs get released so this doesnt really make sense being in "Green Days shoes" Sure they have some say but they cant say "well we want to release such and such" they can say "well we think these songs might be good..." but no, they dont really have "final say". They do have more say for the videos though, just not what is going to be exactly released.

For JOS video I had a totally different idea..

JOS: Mike acting all sullen in a living room, cuts to band playing in one of the corners now and again
City of The damned : Mike driving through a city, shot stops at some "damned" people, dudes in suits and fast cars, homeless guys, kids, etc. Again, cuts to band in living room
I don't care: Mike runs into a church screaming
Dearly Beloved: GD dressed as priests and Tre/Mike swing those little scented things around and around as they pace the pulpit as Mike(as JOS) watches on horrified (for some reason)
Tales of another broken home: Mike goes home and wrecks the place and just leaves. The last moments concentrating on the band playing in the living room

I think what they did was a pretty good idea, with American Idiot being brought out first as it is the introduction to the album, then Boulevard and Holiday as they are "catchier". Bringing WMUWSE next was probably a good idea too as it's a song that really makes you listen to the lyrics etc, and Jesus Of Suburbia, I think, is also a pretty good song, though I do prefer Homecoming. I don't know, maybe it's because JOS is very overplayed here. I don't listen to it much any more.
The WMUWSE video annoys me a little, it's on a LOT, and not that much happens so it ghets a bit boring. But I do think the war that it has two different stories entwined is good.
The videos? I like how American Idiot didn't have a story, actually. There isn't much point, they just play the song. BOBD is good as it makes sense, and so does Holiday, and I like the war story behind WMUWSE. For JOS I think they went a bit overboard with the whole "we're American punks who hate our lives" thing, but it could've been worse.
I would like them to have released Homecoming, but apart from that, it was all okay.
