"Take Armatage Shanks, for example. When I wrote that song, it was right before Dookie came out, and I was really at odds with myself. I was like, man, do I really want to do this? A lot of the time I was thinking about suicide, how it's so easy to kill yourself, but so hard to stay alive. I was in a break-up with my then-girlfriend, a total, raving punk rocker who didn't approve of me being on a major label. She moved down to Ecuador, saying she couldn't live in a world with McDonald's and such. It was fucking me up pretty bad."
When I read that I was like >>> o_O
But Billie won't just kill himself for the hell of it. He's been through a lot already in life, he's stronger than that... that I know of. |

I think that in every where he's gotten it from his dad, something doesn't match up with the last time he told it. I've heard quite a few different versions, ranging from different holidays, to different ages. I think he was just trying to either make up some super awesome story, or place some kind of importance on the guitar by saying it was from his dad. So you can go with his mom, Santa or anybody else you can think of because I'm starting to think that he doesn't have a clue either. |
