I'm not really an authority on punk (who is anyway) but these are some albums that I listen to that are sometimes classified as "punk"

Nirvana - Nevermind and In Utero (In Utero moreso, though)
Hole - Live Through This
Rancid - ...And Out Come the Wolves
The Distillers - Sing Sing Death House and Coral Fang
Operation Ivy - Energy
Descendents - Somery
Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Fever to Tell (more like art-punk)
Violent Femmes - Violent Femmes
Pixies - Surfer Rosa and Doolittle

most of these aren't straight-up punk, but a variation of it

Erm... no. There is no way that this can be listed among the classic albums that have been stated. Its a decent enough album but its nowhere near as lifechanging or brilliant as the others here.

You people even heard of 999? Best punk band, mate. 70s stuff, they were. Brilliant.

And only one person, I saw, put Stiff Little Fingers, another brilliant band. By God.

So yeah:
999 - 999
Inflamable Material - Stiff Little Fingers
Raw Power - Iggy And The Stooges.

Songs of Praise
Sound of Music - The Adicts
Shock Troops - Cock SParrer
Any Dead Kennedys album
Damaged - Black Flag

There's more but ... yeah.

Green Day isn't punk. They aren't pop/punk. Green Day looms far away from the word punk. They are alternative. Or rock. Or whatever. I never listen to them anymore.
