The Sex Pistols

I'm not a huge fan of the Sid And Nancy film....but the last five minutes are hilarious.

"Come dance with us, Sid!"

"I'm not dancing with any soppy kids!"

And then he rides off into the sky in that ridiculous taxi. See to me, that just tells me that they didn't know how to end the goddam movie. Flying taxi with Nancy? Sounds good....

Sorry-Okay the Pistols are brilliant. My faves along with the Clash.

Sid Vicious is my greatest icon.
I like the Sex Pistols but I don't think they started a revoultion, or are actually all that great. I have a skateboard that says 'Never Mind the Bollocks - Sex Pistols'.

I think you're right. It very well could have been a suicide pact (which would explain why there was SOOO many drugs in Sid's system. He could have been trying to OD). but, then again, they could have made a suicide pact long before Nancy died, and then when she was gone Sid remembered the pact and felt obligated to go through with it (though I think the latter seems less likely).

but, then again, the suicide pact doesn't explain all the missing money, adn the drug dealer scenerio would. but, then again, a drug dealer (or anyone else) could have stolen the money and NOT killed Nancy, or Nancy could have spent the money during the night when Sid was passed out.

So little evidence and so many possible reasons.

When you think about it, Nancy's death is lot like Kurt Cobain's.
Most people belive her's to be a homicide and his a Suicide, and yet when you put everything together you get something different. Although when you do that, it gets harder to pin point what really happened.

Yes, I realize this is off topic, but I bought one of the original newspapers off ebay that has your avatar and a banner headline that says "SID VICIOUS- SEX PISTOLS LEADER'S TRIP THROUGH HELL". And it's got that piccy. And all the pages are all old and yellow and smelly. I love ebay.

It's actually not that great of a movie. Every once in a while I watch it just because I think it's funny how annoying they made the Nancy character and how inaccurate the Johnny character is and all that. haha. but as far as an accurate movie goes, it's not your best bet.

I don't think it was THAT bad. I think Gary Oldman's perfromace as Sid could have saved the whole movie (in my oppinion.) He's the only one that really tried to do a good job.

All my issues with the movie go as fallows:

1.Unless you knew prior to watching this movie that the setting is 1977-1979 you would assume it takes place in the mid 80's since vary little was done to make it look 70's.

2.The actors choosen to play the Sex Pistols (save Sid) made vary little effort to look like them in the context of body wight and to some exent age.

3. They had the guy who played Johnny sing live-bad move, the man couldn't sing his way out of a paper bag
(real johnny can't either atlest he's not tone death)and yet they had Gary lip sync.(either lip sync everthing, or lip sync nothing.)

3.Chloe Webb obv looks to old and sounds to old be a 19-year-old Nancy.

4. I kinda wanted to shove a sock down above mentioned person's throat......

5.The "stabbing scene" was rather confusing since your under the impression that Nancy was stabbed during the fight and yet it feels as though a few hours went by before she staggers into the bath room and dies and yet she was stabbed in the stomche.

6. Whole ending of the movie, The Pizza parlor, Sid Dancing with the little kids to disco music, and finaly, driving off with Nancy in a taxi and a brife note about him ODing. Considering the prior event it's not vary classy to end the movie in a fairly tale ending, for lack of a better phrase. I think the ending could have been more gritty and less surreal.

Nancy WAS annoying and bitchy, though. I think the worst job they did with characters was with Johnny Rotten. Not only did he look nothing like him, but he didn't act a thing like him either.

It is from the movie. I know it is. But I really like it!

Anyway, I don't mean to bring back a dead topic, but I've no opinion on the Sid killed Nancy/Didn't kill Nancy debate. I've heard too many sides of the story. I've read an actual interview with Sid after Nancy died where he said (and I'm paraphrasing here); "I had a knife and I was just poking around with it like I'd see [some band] doing all the time. So I'd just be poking Nancy with it, not that hard, but enough to irritate her. Someone knocked on the door as I was poking her and she pushed past me and tripped onto the knife just as I was poking her. I didn't mean to stab her. It was an accident".

So that kinda seemed like a confession there. Again, that's not his exact wording, but I read that part 3459348609486 times so that how I remember it. I've also read interviews with lots of people who knew him (Johnny Rotten, Caroline Coon, etc) who've said that Sid would never have done anything to hurt Nancy. So it remains a mystery to me.
