| July 27th, 2007 at 05:10pm JK Rowling has revealed she DID plan to kill off Harry Potter - but couldn't bring herself to do it.
The authour admitted she was racked with guilt at the prospect of making her lead character die in the final book.Fans who heard the rumour swayed her against it.
In a US TV interview she said both Harry and fellow student Hermione had been in the frame for a tragic end.But she knew young readers would be rocked by the twist.
She said "I can remember meeting a boy who said to me, 'Please never ever, ever, ever kill Hagrid Dumbledore or Sirius.But I knew I'd already done it - I'd already killed Sirius.
"I can't pretend that , looking at him, I didn't feel quite awful."
But she did like the fact that talk of a heroic death for the boy wizard spread like wildfire.
She said "That's what I aimed for, that you felt anyone was up for grabs."
JK,41, comfirmed there would be no more Potter books saying, "I think I have kind of done the wizarding wolrd, But I do plan on writing more books."
