Posts: 17669 | August 22nd, 2007 at 11:19pm Speaking of names, kinda, I was looking up names from stars and mythology and stuff, and I found Merope listed, and in Greek mythology, Merope was a godess who married a mortal. I thought that was really snazzy.
And they've got loads of stuff, like Bellatrix means 'warrioress' and Regulus means 'prince' or 'heart of the lion'.
I mean, I knew all the names come from somewhere, but I thought it was really cool to learn what was behind them and stuff. |

Brendan Gleeson - mad eye moody
Helena Bonham Carter - Lestrange
Imelda Staunton - umbridge
it was weird lol seeing them all in a different movie so i was watching out for other characters...dunno what the movie was called though.

Yeah exactly. Slughorn didn't care about anyone other than himself, as shown by the way he'd get close to those who were talented/well connected.
He 'cared' for Harry, Ginny, even (and especially) Tom Riddle for various reasons so took the time to remember their names. Ron was just another Weasley to him, and he didn't excel at potions or anything else so Slughorn couldn't be bothered to remember his name.
Something that I'm wondering about, though, is when Voldemort returns to Hogwarts for that last battle, would he have recognised Slughorn? Why didn't he insult, taunt or even acknowlege the fat bastard? |
