The genetic mutations are still there in the children, it's only later on down the genetic line when they have children of their own and so forth that they become more prevalent and the children can be born with conditions and diseases because of the initial incest.
I don't think it should be legalized tbh it's bad for the future generations and increases chances of diseases and it's just plain wrong, not supposed to happen.
I mean two people loving each other is a good thing, but when it's like that and caused by something it should be treated or at least helped prevent to happen.
I don't know about a treatment for it though.

Anyways, the children later in the line tend to get illnesses. I don't think such relationships should be legalized. Its not only a matter of those two people, its a matter of their future child who could have malfunctions. Besides how are you supposed to explain to your child that mummy and daddy are a brother and sister. If the kids will have siblings he will probably think that it is natural to have sexual intercourse with your brother or sister.
Besides I will never understand why would someone want to have sexual intercourse with their sibling or their child. There are millions of people in the world and its doubtful that someone would find a soul mate only in their sibling/child/cousin.
How would you treat that? Is there a way of treating forbidden love?
Move, meet other people you aren't related to, fall in love.

I think this was on a case of Law and Order: SVU, but that's about the extent of my experiance with this topic.
I don't know that the part about the babies being born mutilated and whatnot is really a myth. I vaguely remember learning something about chromosomes and how if you have a baby with someone closely related, there issues with the chromosomes. I'll research it further and get back to you.

The only thing I know about incest (I nearly wrote insect) is that Cleopatra married three of her brothers.
I know that in early times there was a lot of sibling love, mainly in the upper classes to be pure bred or whatever. I mean, way back.
Morals change I guess over the centuaries as we plummet towards civilization.

Uh...I don't really know what I think about all this, tbh. I can't really get my head around the idea actually. I suppose with Hollyoaks I don't really see them as brother and sister anyway, and I suppose it would be like that in other real life situations too. But I just really can't imagine it.
I think problems with Incest children is load of crap.
But they do tend ot have problems because they aren't brought up normally which causes them to be freaks.
How you are brought up has most to do with it.

That's completely false, tbh. And really, how would it be any different? In my opinion, it must be exactly the same as having two parents from different families. The children of an incestuous relationship are at the same exact risk as any other child at being "freaks".

I don't think it should be legalized. i can see how it could happen, two siblings that are unknowingly related feel an attraction and perhaps that grows into love but...since there is a risk of genetic mutation far along the line and the legalization matter sort of treads on thin ice, I don't agree with it. Well okay so we had this discussion in History-class.
Like in Egypt, the farao would like marry his sister to "keep it in the family" so to say.
Also, in Denmark, I know some kings would have babies with their sisters which meant their eyes popped out and they were completely loopy, meaning the bloke would actually hop around screeching like a cock.
Our current Queen made a joke about it, since she got a husband in France and her sons got wifes in Australia and Hong Kong; "We need fresh blood."
Idk much about the actual.. current matters, I have to say.

Lucas Evans actually brought up a great point. People used to marry their siblings all the time in ancient Greece and Rome, and various European countries, and no one said anything. It's more of a cultural taboo than anything, tbh.
personaly. i'm not against incest or anything. Its weird, when you'd suddenly find out that hey, i like one of my siblings. But yeah, i'm not against it, nor am i for it. Although, when they'd have kids, maybe not at once, but later, when the kids have kids of their own, maybe then the diseases and all could take their toll. Actually, i think its wrong to send people the prison 'cause of incest, especially when both are willing. Love is love, i guess. Some things just happen. Listen to Ol' Blue Eyes, she's got a point. In ancient Egypt, pharaohs used to marry their sisters and half-sisters. Take Tutankhamun(sp?) for instance, he married his sister. But yet again, one french king married his cousin, and their son came out well.. lets just say that by the end of his reign, he was sort of psycho. Its a 50/50 chance i believe.
My dads cousin are thoguhs things and all their cousins are mental challenged its sad and disgusting, no one wants repeat traits evryone should be different i rather not have a mini me!
