| Anji Basket Case  Age: 35 Gender: Female Posts: 15914  | So, my new obession is HBO's True Blood. What I expected to see during a reluctant viewing of the first episode was a Buffy the Vampire Slayer type Supernatural kinda thing. What I got was far, far better than I could ever have imagined. It's a vampire story, but with unquestionable realism that doesn't leave you attempting to suspend you disbelief further than need be. The clash between the recently exposed vampire race, who have lived for years in modest recluse, against the prejudiced 'human' community is reflected in the religious versus supersticious backdrop of rural Louisiana. Of couse comparisons are drawn with racial discrimination of black people, and political disgretion between the opposing parties of Pro-Vampire supporters and Anti-Vampire campaigners. In the middle of all these crazy juxtapositions is Anna Paquin as the misleadingly sweet, suprisingly intellegent, and ultimately alltruistic heroine, Soukie Stackhouse. As you may well be able to tell, I would love to go on talking about the show, however I figure it's someone else's go. Anyway, so yeah. Totally recommend it, even if you, like me previously, don't even like the whole vampire fantasy genre. It's not really demographically focused on teenagers, as it is based on a book(s?) and has been interpreted as an adult series with adult content. It is extremely graphic and there is a lot of sex in it. But it is just awesome, really. I love it. Yep. True Blood Official Site    |

Bill<3 Dude, Suki's brother is SUCH a jerk. I don't care if it was the V that made him that much of a jerk. that doesn't mean he's any less responsible for his behavior. and there is something freaky going on with the bartender...werewolf, maybe? I mean, he DID do that weird sniffing the blankets of the dead chick thing... I think HE's the one killing all the chicks. Yeah, I'm kinda hooked, especially after what happened in the last episode  |
