Billie Joe's getting treatment for substance abuse
GreenDay.com has released this statement: "Billie Joe is seeking treatment for substance abuse. We would like everyone to know that our set was not cut short by Clear Channel and to apologize to those we offended at the iHeartRadio Festival in Las Vegas. We regretfully must postpone some of our upcoming promotional appearances."

This is ridiculous, remember when Billie came on stage naked and sang She? Remember when he shat on stage? Remember when he kicked a guy in the audience's ass? When he used to do that people loved it, it was Billie being Billie. Now he does it and everyone freaks out? It's dumb.

But on the other hand, that wasn't much of a meltdown. It wasn't like he started talking to someone who wasn't there or balled up in the fetal position and shat himself and then threw it at everyone. He wasn't stumbling or incoherent or anything like that. He just yelled and cussed a lot, which we all know from seeing Green Day live is nothing new for him, and then he did an angry, mediocre impersonation of Paul Simonon smashing his bass on the cover of The Clash's album London Calling. In fact, I'd be surprised if he's going to rehab at all. He probably just wanted to buy himself some rest and some publicity for Uno.

The line "Pills and alcohol are making me a lost cause" from "27th Avenue Shuffle" by Foxboro Hot Tubs flashed in my mind when I heard about all this. And the drug references just seem to be becoming more and more prominent.
