It's Comedy And Tragedy, chapter 4

Rai pressed 3 in the elevator and was slowly being lifted up to the third floor. The elevator stopped at floor two, there must have been someone waiting to be picked up. The door to the elevator opened and in came guy, he had a black shirt with 'Green Day' in white letters written on red dynamite sticks. Rai quietly laughed to herself, she had the same shirt.

"Hey." Said the guy.
Rai was kind of startled by his sudden greeting.
"Hi." She replied.
"So, are you heading towards a room? Because I was on my way to get some coffee and I wanted to know if you would join me. Sorry if I seem really sudden and straightforward. I just really need some one to talk to."
Rai was completely shocked at his sudden invitation, but she saw pain in his eyes, she couldn't say no. But she just remembered that her friends were up in Billie Joe's room, and they were probably worried about her.

"Um, yea sure, but I have to go tell my friends that I'll be gone for a bit longer." Said Rai
"Oh yea, of course. Do you want me to come with you?" asked the guy.
Rai stopped. She just realized that if she took this stranger, who was obviously a fan of Green Day, to Billie Joe's room, he'd probably freak out. "Eh what the hell."
"Um, yea, but you have to promise you wont freak out okay?"
"Uh why?" asked the guy really scared of what she was talking about.
"Oh, you'll see. So what's your name anyways?" asked Rai.
"James. Sorry I didn't tell you sooner, what's yours?"
"Rai." She replied. "Okay, here's our room."
Rai reached forward and turned the knob. She casually walked in with James beside her. James looked up to see who was in the room, his jaw dropped.
"Rai, where the hell were you? You didn't even answer my phone calls!" said Danelle.
"Oh, sorry. I just went for a walk." Replied Rai.
"Who's this?" asked Adie.
"Oh, I'm sorry, everyone this is James. James this is everyone, I think you probably know all their names except for my friend Danelle over there."
"Hey, I like you shirt!" said Tre.
"Thanks." Said James.
"Well anyways, I just wanted to let you guys know I'll be back in a little bit. James and I are going to go get some coffee." Said Rai.
"Oh, so that's what you do. You leave me in my hospital bed, and go pick up on guys?" said Billie Joe jealously.
Adie turned to Billie Joe.
"Oh, um, yea. Okay well see you later." Said Billie Joe, trying to cover up his outburst.
"Okay..." replied Rai, unsure of what just happened.
James was just standing in shock of Green Day. Rai grabbed James' arm and pulled him to the door. They walked out.
"HOLY SHIT! You know Green Day?!" asked James.
"Well, kind of. My friend won a contest for touring with them for a month. We met like 2 days ago." Replied Rai.
"You guys are the ones that won that contest on KROQ? Man! I was calling and calling. I couldn't even get through!"
"Ha-ha...yep. So where's the nearest Starbucks?" asked Rai.
"Oh, just around this corner."
"Okay. So, why are you at the hospital? Sick grandparent?"
"Well, no. Not exactly. My dad is sick. He has cancer."
"Oh my god, I'm sorry."
"Yea. Me too."

They turned the corner and James opened up the door for Rai. They walked in and Rai ordered a Caramel Macchiato, while James ordered a Chai Tea Latte. James paid for their drinks, after Rai insisted she could pay for her own. They walked over to a tall table and sat on the stools.
"So, you said you really needed to talk to someone about something?" asked Rai trying to start a conversation. She realized that was probably a bad way to start it.
"Well to be honest with you. I only asked you for some coffee so I can hang out with you."
Rai lowered her head in embarrassment.
"Are you seeing someone else?" asked James, uncertain of why she lowered her head.
"Oh, no." replied Rai.
The conversation just shot up from there. They talked about everything, their likes, dislikes, families, friends, cars, anything that popped into their head. They both started to feel very comfortable with each other. Rai glanced at her watch and realized they've been talking for three hours.

"Oh wow! I should really get back to Billie Joe's room."
"Yea, its getting pretty late."
They disposed their empty cups as the exited the Starbucks. They started walking back to the hospital.

"Well, I had a great time. Thanks a lot!" said Rai.
"Yea, sure no problem. I had a lot of fun too."
They continued walking, they reached the hospital. They walked into the main lobby and made their way to the elevator.
"So which floor is your dad on?"
"Third floor, room 202." Replied James.
"Oh, hey that's right next to Billie Joe's room. Do you want to hang out with us for a little bit before heading to your dad's room?"
"Oh YEA! Of course! I'd love to!"
They both laughed at his excitement and headed towards room 200, Billie Joe's room. They reached the room and walked in. The room was empty.
"What the hell? Where are they?" asked Rai, worried.
"Maybe they went out to eat."
"Well Billie Joe can't go with them."
"Maybe they took him in a wheelchair."
"Can they do that?" asked Rai.
"I dunno." Replied James.
They walked over to Billie Joe's bed and looked in the drawer next to it. There was a book. 'The Catcher in the Rye.'
"Isn't that one of Billie Joe's favorite books?" asked James.
"Yea. Look, his clothes are hanging in the closet. He must still be in this room. They probably did go out to eat."
James and Rai sat on his bed.

"You have really beautiful eyes. They are the most gorgeous shade of green." Said James.
"Thanks." Said Rai, who lowered her head in embarrassment.
James reached out his hand and lifted her chin up, just like Billie had done. He leaned forward kissed her lips softly.
"What the hell are you doing!" yelled a voice.
The couple turned towards the bathroom. Billie Joe as standing in the doorway of the bathroom.

"Billie? We thought you went out to eat." Said Rai.
"No! I can't leave this fucking room!" said Billie Joe.
Billie Joe walked towards James and Rai. He threw his fist at James, and knocked him out cold. Billie Joe yelled as his arm soared in pain.
"Billie! What the hell are you doing?" screamed Rai.
"Why the hell did you kiss him? Did our kiss mean nothing to you?" asked Billie.
"Billie, what the fuck? You're married and have two kids! It was just a sympathy kiss...right?"
Asked Rai, now really confused.
Rai knelt down next to James body and tried waking him up.
"Great! Now look what you did!" yelled Rai.
"Ah Fuck! I don't know what that kiss meant. Ah shit! I have a fuckin' headache!" yelled Billie Joe.
A nurse walked in.
"What is all the commotion about? This is a hospital! Why the hell is he lying on the floor?"
The nurse walked over to James' body and saw he was knocked out. She pulled a little bottle out of her pocket and swiftly moved it in front of his nose. James eyes opened and yelled as his left eye was badly bruised.

"C'mon, I'll take him to get some ice in the cafeteria." Said Rai.
"No! Don't leave with that bastard!" yelled Billie Joe.
"Excuse me! Can you please keep it down, we have patients that are trying to sleep." Yelled the nurse who was frustrated.
The nurse walked out of the room and continued on to her schedule.
"Billie! What is wrong with you? Can't you hear what you're saying?" asked Rai.
"Hey, man. Sorry I didn't know you guys had a thing going on." Said James.
"We don't!" yelled Rai. "C'mon James let me take you to get some ice for your eye."
"No, really I don't want to get involved. Rai, it was really nice meeting you. I'll see you around."
James walked out of the room covering his eye with his hand.

"Billie! Holy Shit! Look what you did! What the hell is your issue?" yelled Rai.
Billie Joe walked up to Rai and threw his arms around her.
"I'm sorry babe." Said Billie Joe.
Rai shoved his arms off of her and screamed, "No! I'm going home! I am sick of this!"
"Where the hell are you going to go? Your parents kicked you out remember?" yelled Billie Joe.
Rai's eyes swelled up with tears as she ran out of the room.
"Rai! No wait! I'm sorry! I don't know why I said that!" yelled Billie Joe who was running after her.

Rai continued running. She kept running till she couldn't run anymore. By this time she was well out of the hospital and sitting on a rock at a nearby park. She wasn't much of a runner.
