My Truly Chemical Romance, chapter 5
The next morning I got out of bed (considering I didn't get a bit of sleep the night before) and went for a run in the park as the sun was rising. Though I was distraught I knew I had to stay together for my family and friends. I walked into my apartment to find Cassie back at the apartment cooking breakfast with Gee still sleeping.
"Hey!!!!!!" She said with a smile as bright as the eggs she was cooking, "What's wrong sweetie?" she asked. She could always tell when I was upset.
"My grandma died." I said looking down at my feet.
"Oh my god I'm so sorry!" she said as she pulled me into a hug, "Its gonna be alright."
"I know its just that-"
Suddenly the phone rang.
"Hello?"
"Hey sweetie!" It was my mom.
"Hi mom!"
"listen I just wanted to let you know that the funeral for your grandma is tomorrow. You can bring that boy Gerard if you want?"
"Ok." I said. It seemed that she liked Gee, "I got to go. I love you! Bye!"
"Bye" she said as I heard her hang up the phone.
I sat down at the table to eat my bacon and eggs as I saw Gee come in only his boxers.
"Hey hun!" He said as he kissed me on the head, "I smell bacon!"
"Yep you do!" Cassie said while fixing him a plate.
"Listen Gee, my grandmas funeral is tomorrow and my parents said that you can come if your want." I said while picking at my eggs.
"Ok if that's what you want me to do I would happily go with you." He said as Cassie put his plate down in front of him.
"Ok thanks! Your so sweet!" I said looking into his hazel eyes.
"Oh by the way we have a local show tonight and me, and I'm sure Frankie, would love it if you guys came." Gerard said as he ate his last scrap of bacon.
"I'll be there!" Cassie said as she sat down on the couch and put on MTV.
"Yeah of course I'll go!" I said. "I really need a pick me up!"
"Ok!" Gee said as he lifted me up.
"No no no! Not that kind of pick-me-up!" I said still up in his arms.
"Oh ok!" he said as he dropped me on the couch.
"Hey I'm gonna go get dressed I'll be in 10." he said as he walked to the bathroom with some clothes.
"Alright." I replied.
Cassie and I watched music videos until Gerard came in wearing a black T shirt and jeans. He sat down with us when suddenly Helena came on.
"Would you like to dance my lady?" He said getting up and holding out a hand to me.
"I'd love to I said getting up." We danced well into the next video and eventually stopped after Cassie went in to take a shower. We pretty much hung out goofing off until 6' o'clock when the rest of the band came to pick us up. We were on our way to the local show. It turns out that the show was at one of my old hangouts The Bloomfield Ave. Cafe. We sat backstage for a while where Frankie was eating and talking to one of the opening acts along with Cassie, Gerard was warming up while I watched, Mikey was reading comic books, and Bob and Ray
were practicing. Soon enough they were called onstage as me and Cassie went out to watch. They put on a great show, performing The Ghost of You, Helena, I'm Not Okay (I Promise), You Know What they Do To Guys Like Us In Prison, and Headfirst for Halos, I thought they were finished but then Gerard and the band came back out and said they were gonna do one more.
"This is for Sonia!" Gee said pointing to me. They started playing Demolition Lovers and towards the middle of the song pulled me up on stage. At the end he kissed me and whispered "I love you" into my ear.
"I love you too" I whispered back.
"Had I finally found my one true love? Was this it?" I thought as we drove home.
We dropped the guys off except for Gerard and Frankie who both wanted to stay over again. I knew the next day would be harder but I'd let it come as it may.
