The Rage and Love, Story of my Life, chapter 20

About half an hour later, I heard the doorbell ring. I was in the kitchen drinking a cup of coffee and reading a magazine. I heard the front door open and Billie's voice wafting through the air.

"Hey Ava, come in. Hey Sam, how're you doing?" Billie asked.

I continued to read the magazine, trying to distract my thoughts from the situation at hand in the other room. I shuddered at Ava's voice that shrilled through the house.

"Thanks for letting Samantha come over." Ava said.

"Oh it was no problem. She's always welcome." Billie responded.

I heard feet padding down the stairs and Joey's shy voice interrupt their brief conversation.

"Hey Sam. Wanna go up to my room?"

"Sure." she responded as they ran up the stairs.

"So how is Adrienne? Is she home?" Ava asked smuggly.

"She's great, and yea she's home, but she's busy."

"Oh... I see."

"Uh.. yea. Well thanks for dropping Sam off. I guess I'll call you when you can come pick her up."

"Sure. Bye, Billie."

"Bye."

I heard the front door close and footsteps walking towards me.

"You really do owe me." Billie said, taking a seat in the chair next to me.

I smiled. "Thanks, babe."

He returned the smile, then a mischievous grin spread across his face. I gave him a questioning look.

"What?"

"Looks like we have time to ourselves."

"Ah, but that's where you're wrong, Billie boy. Your youngest son is still not occupied."

"Damn... and I totally thought of a suitable compensation for you dissing me and me covering for you."

"Oh you did?" I responded playfully. "And what is that?"

Billie slowly lifted his arm and began playing with my locks. He leaned forward and placed a small kiss on my lips.

"How about I show you?" He whispered against my lips.

I dropped the magazine on the table, as my hand went up to caress his face. Our kiss began to deepen as I felt his tongue softly graze against mine.

"MOM! I'm hungry!"

I smiled against his lips, then whispered "What did I tell you?"

Billie pulled back then lowered his head. "Those kids never let me have any fun!"

We all sat at the dining table, munching down on some pizza I had ordered.

"Dad? How big is the universe?" asked Jakob, taking a bite of his slice of pepperoni pizza.

"Uh... I don't know exactly, but it's really big."

Jakob nodded. "Dad, how old are you?"

"34." Billie responded.

"Wow, that's old."

I stifled a laugh, taking a sip of my Coke.

"Dad, how are babies made?"

"Jake, why don't you finish eating your food and stop asking so many questions." Billie replied.

I chuckled, looking over at Billie Joe.

"Okay." responded Jakob.

Twenty minutes later, I was picking up the plates and carrying them into the kitchen. I heard footsteps behind me as I was loading the dishwasher with the dirty dishes. I felt a pair of hands wrap around my waist, and soft breathing against my ear.

"Okay, the way I see it, we got five minutes. Let's make the best of it." Billie said, kissing my neck.

I giggled, "Billie, the kids are in the next room."

"So? That's never stopped us before."

"Yea, but this time they're awake."

Billie rested his forehead against my temple. "Fine. You win. But tonight, no excuses. You do owe me after all."

"Yeah, yeah. Now go finish clearing the table."

Billie smiled, kissing my temple. "Yes ma'am."

He dropped his hands from around my waist, then fled back to the table. I finished putting away the dishes, then went to go see what the kids were doing. I walked to the living room and saw Billie sitting on the couch with a sleeping Jakob on his lap.

"Wow. Are you that boring?" I teased.

"Oh ha ha. But shush, American Idol is on."

I rolled my eyes. "Unbelievable."

"What? It's a kick ass show."

"Now I see why Jakob fell asleep."

"Whatever. Don't hate."

I laughed, then began walking towards the stairs.

"Where you going? Come watch it with me."

"No thanks, Bill. I think I'll pass on that one, and for your information I am going to bed. I'm tired."

"What?! You can't go to bed! It's like 8:30!"

"I just said I was tired."

"But you still have to repay me with mind-blowing sex!" Billie pouted. "You promised!"

"Billie Joe, keep it down! You're gonna wake Jake up. Besides, I'm really tired."

Billie frowned, "Fine. By the way, call Ava up and tell her to come pick Sam up."

"Very funny. Now goodnight."

"Well, if you're not gonna do it. Who is? I'm not." Billie challenged.

"Billie Joe Armstrong, I am NOT in the mood. Do not piss me off."

Billie smiled mischievously. "Alright, alright. Goodnight, babe."
