The Rage and Love, Story of my Life, chapter 21

The following morning I opened my eyes and saw a sleeping Billie Joe curled up against me, sound asleep. Smiling, I threw my legs off the side of the bed, getting up and trying to be careful not to wake him up. Once I was up, I headed towards the closet, changing into some jeans and a t-shirt. When I was finished, I headed downstairs. I fled to the kitchen and began to brew some coffee. Not too long after, I heard someone coming down the stairs. I glanced up as Billie Joe entered. He ran a hand through his disheveled hair.

"Morning, babe." He said, taking a seat at the table.

"Good morning." I replied, grabbing two mugs from the cupboard.

I poured the hot coffee into both mugs, then carried them over to the table. I placed one in front of Billie, then took a seat.

"Thanks." He responded, taking a sip.

"You're welcome." I replied.

A moment of silence came upon us as we silently enjoyed our hot beverage.

"Bill Schneider called last night, after you went to bed." Billie said, breaking the silence.

"What did he say?" I asked.

"That we leave for the rest of the tour in two days."

I silently nodded, taking a sip of my coffee. Billie placed his coffee mug down, then reached forward under the table, resting his hand on my knee.

"I'm gonna miss you."

I smiled. "I'm gonna miss you too."

He leaned forward, placing a gentle kiss on my lips. After we pulled back, I took another sip of my coffee.

"So where are you guys headed?" I asked.

"Um... Europe. We're gonna tour around there I guess."

"You guess?"

"Well yea. Bill called when American Idol was on, so I wasn't giving him my full attention."

I rolled my eyes. I heard footsteps and turned around to see a sleepy Jakob walk into the kitchen.

"Morning Jake." I called to him.

"Goodmorning" He responded, rubbing his eyes.

"Want some breakfast?"

"Yes, please. Mom, can I have some cereal?"

"Sure, what kind?"

"Uhh... Lucky Charms."

I nodded, then got up walking to the refrigerator and cupboard to retrieve the cereal and milk. Jakob took a seat next to Billie.

"So little man, what do you want to do today?" Billie asked him.

"Let's go to Disneyland!" Jakob exclaimed.

A horrified look spread across my face.

"Uh.. Jake, how about we go somewhere else?" I interjected.

"Okay..." Jakob replied, sadly.

"How about we just go to the park or something?" Billie asked.

"Okay! Can we have a picnic?" asked Jakob.

"Sure." Billie replied.

I set Jakob's cereal in front of him, as he began to eat.

Several hours later, I was sitting on a blanket watching the boys play soccer.

"Mom! Come play with us!" Joey yelled.

"Yea, c'mon Adie!" Billie yelled.

"Oh alright." I said, getting up and walking towards them.

"Mommy's on my team!" Jakob yelled.

"Okay." I replied. "So where are the goals?"

"Uh... that tree to that tree, is yours, and that one to that one is Joe's and mine." said Billie pointing to the trees.

"Okay. Are you ready to get your ass handed to you?" I smiled.

Billie chuckled. "Bring it on!"

About an hour and many bruises later, we all collapsed on the blanket, exhausted.

"So what was that about my ass?" Billie asked, smiling.

"Oh shut up. You guys cheated anyways." I replied.

"Ooh. A little pissed are we? Adie, you should really learn how to have good sportsmanship." Billie replied.

"Shut it." I said, rather venomously.

"It's okay, Mommy. We tried our hardest." said Jakob.

I smiled at Jakob. "You're right, Jake. We did."

"But next time, can I be on Daddy's team?"

Billie laughed. "Oh, you mean the winning team? Of course you can!" he said, before breaking out into song and singing 'We Are The Champions'.

I rolled my eyes.

Later that night, I was lying in bed reading a magazine, when Billie came into our bedroom after spending some time practicing in the basement.

"Hey there sexy lady." Billie said, winking at me.

"Hi." I replied, not bothering to look up.

"Ah. Still bitter about the game?" Billie asked.

"Nope. I thought of a way to make you pay for it."

"Adie, someone had to lose."

"I know. I'm not mad about that. Just how you kept boasting about it. Not very sportsmanlike."

"Oooh... being hypocritical, are we?"

I ignored him, turning the page of my Cosmopolitan magazine.

"Well I'm glad you're reading something that will be useful for tonight." Billie said, walking to the closet.

I quirked an eyebrow, finally tearing my eyes away from the magazine and looking up to him. "What exactly do you mean?"

"Cosmo. They have good sex tips." He said, smiling.

"What makes you think it will be of use tonight?"

"You owe me."

"Not after today I don't. I figured after letting you win, it would be even between us."

Billie's jaw dropped. "WHAT?!" he exclaimed.

"Sh! You'll wake the kids."

"Letting me win?!"

"You didn't think you were actually THAT good at soccer, did you?"

"And when did you think it was okay for you to think of the compensation? You have to run the idea by me and get my consent first!"

"When were there rules for compensations between us?"

"There always has been."

"For being the 'Mack Daddy of all dating and relationships', you really suck at keeping your own relationship."

"You're mean." Billie said frowning.

I chuckled.

"Okay, okay. I'm sorry about boasting today." Billie said, taking a seat on the bed next to me.

"No you're not. You're just saying that so you can get sex."

"Okay... Well I'm kind of sorry."

"Maybe next time, Armstrong."

"But... but tonight's the only night we get before I go on tour!"

"Billie, the mood's kinda ruined now, don't you think?"

"The mood's never ruined."

I rolled my eyes, setting my magazine down on the nightstand. I turned the lamp off, then rolled over. Billie sighed, then got off the bed. He took his shirt off, then pulled down his jeans, discarding them on the chair in the corner of the room. He climbed into bed next to me, wrapping his arm around me and pulling me closer.

"I really am sorry, y'know. Now that I think about it, I was kind of a jerk." he whispered in my ear.

"That's all I wanted to hear." I said, before pulling him in for a kiss.

Billie pulled back from the kiss, moments later.

"Wait, does that mean you're gonna fulfill the compensation?" Billie asked, breathlessly.

"Oh shut up, Armstrong." I said, pulling him in for another breathtaking kiss.
