The One I Want, chapter 27
"Mom?" said Billie Joe walking into the kitchen. There his mother was sitting down paying bills.
"Hmm?" she said with out looking from the work.
"I really need to talk to you," Said Billie sitting across from her.
"Me too," said Ollie putting down her pen and folding her hands.
"The school called today. Billie Joe you have not gone to school in 2 weeks," Said Ollie calmly.
"That's what's it is about...Mom...I dropped out," Said Billie Joe. He was sweating badly. He was ready for his Mom to yell at him. He had his speech all ready.
"And why is that?" Said Ollie.
"Well...because...what I want to do in life has nothing to do with school...so what's the point of me sticking around?" said Billie playing with his hands.
"And what do you want to be?" said Ollie
"Well, I want to be in my band full time...I mean Tre dropped out to..."said Billie wondering when his mother would start going crazy.
"What about Mike? Is he going to drop out?" Said Ollie.
"No..."Said Billie Joe.
"Billie Joe," said Ollie grabbing his hands.
"You don't know how hard this is to hear. A son dropping out. If one of your brothers or sister dropped out and wanted to be a rock star I would go crazy! But I see you Billie Joe, how seriously you are into your music, and how much effort you put in music. And I have faith in you Billie Joe. I think it's your thing Billie, I know school wasn't for you. Ever since your dad died you took your music seriously. And I know you will make it. Big," Said Ollie smiling.
"Mom...Thank you!" said Billie Joe jumping up from his chair and went rushing to hug his mother.
The both of them stood there hugging each other.
"Billie I see it in you. You were always my little rock star," Said Ollie holding Billie Joe's face.
"Now go off! Go practice," said Ollie smiling.
Billie Joe smiled and kissed his mom on the cheek and ran up to his room.
Ollie smiled to her self and went back to the Bills.
*2 hours later*
Billie Joe rang the door bell of Sara's house. It had been partially 2 weeks since he seen he or talked to her. Sara opened the door.
"What?" said Sara sourly.
"We need to talk about this," said Billie Joe
"About what? There is nothing to talk about," said Sara starting to shut the door.
"Yes there is! Look Sara. We can have one little fight get between us," said Billie Stopping the door.
"You dont know how much these 2 past weeks have been hard. Hiding from Ralph and my mom. I can't go to school and say hi to you and Mike. So it's just me home. And it gets pretty damn lonely-"
"I bet, but if you did not drop out that would not be a problem-"
"Just stop! God damn it Sara. Of all the people would know! Fuck, I thought you knew me, and how I feel. But I guess you don't. Have these past years have been a waste? I could have been off with 20 differnt girls and screwing them all! But no. I did not do that. I WATIED FOR YOU! You know what...Just fuck it. I'm done I don't need you. After Mike graduates, we are leaving."
"GOOD! LEAVE I DONT EVEN WANT YOU AROUND. OR MIKE AND TRE. GO OFF AND BE 'ROCK STARS.' You guys are not going to make it!" yelled Sara.
"We are going to make it. And we are going to make it big. And you're going to regret it for not staying with me and not believing us," Said Billie Joe.
The he took off his baseball cap and gave it to Sara.
"Just remember. It was your loss...not mine," said Billie Joe and left.
