You Were An Asshole... And Now You're Gone, chapter 6
Tre jumped on the bed and said, "Excuse me, exuse me." My uncle Charlie then stated, "Why? Did you fart?" We all then started laughing. "Very funny." "Well it is funny Tre. You have to admit." I said as I stopped. "Whatever. Anyway. I know this may sound wrong and somewhat cruel, but, I had asked Ciarra to marry me and she said, " he paused for a minute and lookd around, "yes." Everybody turned around slowly and glared at me. "What? He is a nice guy." I started turning around and I ran out the door and out into the waiting room. Dana and Danny ran after me and said, "Ciarra J. You know better than to say yes to a man of his kind of nature." I looked up at them with these eyes that said 'I know, I know. I just wasn't thinking.' "You wanna know why I said yes to him?" "Well duh," they both said in unison. "I told him if mom had passed away that I would probably have to go back up to dad's and you guys both know I don't ever get along with him so I said I would marry him. Is that a good enough reason for you?"
They looked at each other for a while and then back at me. Then Danny sat down next to me and put his arm around me and said, "Ciarra, you know you can come with me or Shelly. You don't have to go to dad's. That's why you talk to us before you go off saying yes to a strange man who is what, 37--" I then cut him off and said, "32." "Well same thing. My point is, you always turn to your family before anybody." "Your brother is right Ciarra. You may not always have a guy to turn to but you will always have your family." I looked up and saw Adrienne. "I guess you're right Adrienne. What am I saying. You are right. Family is always the best thing anybody can have. Thanks." Then they looked at Adrienne and then back at me. Dana then asked, "Who is she?" "That's Adrienne. Billie Joe's wife." "Oh ok. Who is Billie Joe?" "You know damn well who Billie Joe is. The lead singer for Green Day, you dip shit." I pushed him down and ran outside and he came after me and we went tumbling in the grass wrestling.
A few minutes later my mom, my grandmother, Tre, my sisters and my uncles all came out. Shelly then asked, "Where are the two brats?" "Outside." They all looked outside and saw us wrestling. That was when Tre first noticed Adrienne was there. "ADIE!!" he yelled as he ran and gave her a hug. "Hey Tre, you doing ok?" "You know it. How are the two brats doing?" "They're doing good." "Well good." He let go and charged outside and started wrestling around with me and Dana. Then Adie said, "Tre may be 32 but he is still a kid at heart."
And at that, everybody walked out.
