Leaving You Was Never Easy, chapter 4

A few hours had passed and we were nearing Trenton. Billie, Mike and Adrienne were sitting at a table talking about music and stuff like that. Tre and myself were sitting next to a large tinted window that overlooked the busy roads.

"So, I was thinking, maybe I should look for my brothers when I go back, just to see how they are"

"Ok, but don't leave"

"I told you, I won't, I just need to see how they are"

"But what if you stay, and we never see each other again"

"That won't happen, Tre, and even if it did, we would find each other"

"I'm still worried though"

"I know, I am as well, I don't know what I'd do without you guys" I rested my head on Tre's warm shoulder and drifted off into a deep sleep.

***

"Frankie, hey Frankie!" a voice called from above my head. It was Tre, waking me up, we had arrived in Trenton and I had to get off the bus.

"Aww crap!" I said rubbing my eyes.

"Yeah, I know, come on though"

"Ok, so where are we staying?"

"Royal Georgian or something like that"

"Oh my gosh, can this day get any worse?!" I said walking off the bus.

"What, is it? Is the hotel crappy?"

"No, it's good, but I used to work there"

"Ok, this day can't really get any worse for you, can it?" he said as we walked across a road to the hotel. Something made me think that that question didn't need an answer. I'll only take a paddy out on someone if I answer it. So here we go, walking into the Georgian. Manager sees me. Gives me a look that says 'you still owe us the money for stealing half the mini bar'. But hey, what else am I meant to do on my last day at work!?

**Later that day**

We were sitting in the lounge, chilling out, having a laugh. I knew that I'd have to head back to my house to see if my brothers were there at all, but now I could relax and enjoy the company of my dear friends! Or so I though!

"OH MY GOD! Julia-Francheska?!" Dear lord, why me?! That voice again, the last time I heard it seemed like forever ago, but it still pierced my brain the same way. It reminded me of Janice in a way, you know, the annoying one from Friends, any-who, there she was. And she still didn't know my name right!

"Hey, Kate! It's you!" I said in the most fake way imaginable.

"How you feeling?!"

"I'm good thanks, yourself?"

"Same as usual thanks" I had to get out of this somehow.

"Hey, you guys, I'm going to go and see if I can find my brothers, I'll see you around"

"Okay, bye" they all replied in unison.

I walked back home, the same way I'd always go after work It was only a short walk so I soon found myself at my own front door, forgetting the circumstances, I walked straight in, not a good idea, anyone could have been living there now. But, luckily enough, I was safe, my brothers guitar was leaning on the edge of the leather sofa. I missed my house in a strange way. It felt like home.

I called on my brothers but nobody answered, so I started walking up the stairs towards his room. Music was playing loudly from his messy room and he had obviously not heard me come in.

"Robert?" I yelled, still no answer. I opened the door and saw the empty room and switched off the radio.

"Robert?!" no answer, now I was getting worried. I checked to see if he was in the bathroom but it was empty as well. I walked towards my old room, which I soon realized was now full of guitars. At that moment, my heart froze and shattered into tiny pieces. My brother lay on the floor with a gun wound to his leg and what looked like strangling marks on his neck. What the hell was happening?! I grabbed the phone and started calling 911 when I heard a clicking noise that was so familiar. I dropped the phone and closed my eyes tightly, a gun was now pointed right at the back of my head, the cold metal touching my scalp. What the hell was I going to do?!

I'm going to die here. I kept thinking to myself.

A rough voice came from behind me...

"Don't you dare fucking move! You hear me?!" I started crying silently and slowly the pressure was taken off of the back of my head. Was I safe? I thought I was, until I turned around and a knife was pierced into my shivering body. I fell to the ground and saw the man run out of the room and down the stairs. The whole house was silent as I lay next to my dying brother. I heard a faint noise coming from the phone that lay dropped on the floor.

"Hello? Can I help you?" The voice said quietly. I tried to reach for the phone and my weak, shaking hand grasped the phone and I held it up to my ear.

"H-help, I need help, 13 Monroe Avenue, h-h-el-p" and that was it, my hand fell to the cold floor and all I could do was pray that help would come. I felt something touch my side and I turned my head to see my brother looking at me. I took his hand and held it tightly...
